Serious question. If god is real, loves us, and just wants us to be happy, and is all powerful, why is there so much pain and suffering?

I think it's more likely that its possible to live a life of pointless suffering, even when you're good to other people, and then die and just be dead, and cease to exist, in any form whatsoever.
