Jacksonville wants to ban neo-Nazis from laser projecting antisemitic messages on bui

In recent months, neo-Nazis in Florida have taken to displaying antisemitic messages on buildings using laser light projectors. Footage of the messages is then used in online recruitment efforts. This past weekend, neo-Nazis again projected antisemitic hate onto buildings in two Florida cities.

Local politicians in Jacksonville, Florida, where much of this activity has taken place, have had enough. They're drafting legislation to stop people from using their city skyline to spread hate with laser lights.

I'm sure our favorite hater, Pointgold aka Minty aka Life is Golden, who lives in JAX, wants these messages to continue. Look for a new discussion to be posted slamming those "woke" JAX politicians who want to put a stop to it.

Like it or not, the First Amendment protects speech YOU, or I, disagree with. That's part of how America works. We let the haters and idiots speak. We can disagree with them. We can ignore them. But we can't make them STFU just because we don't like what they're saying.

Get some lasers of your own and graffiti the hater's laser messages. That's your right as free speech to do. But don't make a crime out of something that's a Right just because you disagree with it.

Do the buildings that the messages are on belong to the group posting them? It looks like the proposed law requires the permission of the building's owner, so maybe not. From the OP link:

Jacksonville City Councilman Rory Diamond told the Daily Dot in a phone interview on Tuesday afternoon that they're working on a bill that would require a permit and permission from the property owner to project a message onto a building. He said the legislation would also apply to public property. Diamond said that violations would be a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.

He described the legislation as "content neutral," which would avoid running afoul of First Amendment protections.

If you had a Nazi symp neighbor, would you want him projecting hate messages on YOUR house? How about a BLM neighbor shining "Black Lives Matter!" on your house?

So you claim you have the right to put graffiti up on my building, using a laser that can do damage to my eye sight, under the First Amendment? That is a novel interpretation of the First Amendment.

Every now and then, the alt right has to remind us that they were the Neo-Nazis before they were the alt right. Oh I forgot, they have moved on from the term alt right, much like Neo-Nazi, and are now what?

That portion would be legal, but projecting it into the sky for example would not be.

I could solve that with a mirror........which I could probably buy cheap at a thrift store, paint the frame an ugly color and point at my neighbor's house......

No point in projecting the message into the sky; it wouldn't be readable. Should someone be allowed to project their message onto any building they want?

The later, no. On the other hand, these tards could easily project a huge swastika or something in the sky. Don't underestimate the stupid when they become determined.
