President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn pleaded guilty on Friday to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Sergei Kislyak, the former Russian ambassador to the U.S. One of the alleged falsehoods that led to Flynn’s indictment appears to implicate Trump’s own son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner.

Court filings and multiple reports hint at an elaborate, multinational effort led by Flynn and Kushner to undermine then-President Barack Obama at the behest of then-President-elect Trump.

No doubt Ivanka is weeping and begging Daddy to "do something" to save her little priss from prison. I'm sure there's a money trail there too. These are clever and crafty types though who no doubt have laundered and re-laundered any compensation received in exchange for whatever they were promising the Russians.

This is getting real.

The question is, what will Trump do when his son in law is indicted. He does have options, none of which are good.
 
Should be interesting, first an associate, then a close employee, family seems the next step, and being a family member adds an additional element

But, guarantee the strategy on how to work with the worse scenario possible is already planned at the White House, keep in mind a third of the nation believes everything and anything the guy says, and he isn't honorable enough to pull a Nixon, so I envision him tearing apart the country to satisfy his own ego

Please cite the statute which stipulates "undermining the outgoing president". This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. How do you "undermine" a lame duck president?

You just cant be as stupid as you sound, asshole. Ask Mueller what the law is when you intentionally undermine the policy of a current president before taking office. Its a shame we cant indict Reagan also for the very same act.

Title 18 U.S. Code § 953

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

Excellent. It would appear that several of the Trumpites' gooses are cooked, eh?

So now we have established both intent to influence a foreign government and the fact that such was attempted. Do we also need a motive? Or do the former two suffice?

My opinion is that the motive was to smooth the way for Trump's enterprises in Russia. There's also the widely-held belief that he owes a great deal of debt to the Russian banks and perhaps even the Russian mafia.

I actually don't think this law has ever been enforced with any frequency.

Neither being a lawyer, nor privy to Muellers investigation myself, I would be opening myself to mere speculation to go down this road. But, the fact that Flynn and the Trumpettes have been telling Mueller lies, and generally acting like they have something to hide (e.g., firing Comey; begging the Senate Intel committee to drop the investigation, et al.) sure sounds like obstruction of justice and conspiracy are in play.

For some reason, the Cons keep insisting this statute is not valid. I guess they think they can pick and chose which laws to follow.
 
Trump has no respect for the law. he will issue blank pardons to his whole cabinet and staff. It is about winning, not following the law.
