Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) failed to reach a majority on the House floor Wednesday, drawing one fewer vote for speaker than on a first ballot Tuesday. Jordan, a conservative firebrand allied with former president Donald Trump, is seeking to succeed Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who was ousted as speaker two weeks ago. It was not immediately clear whether Jordan would continue his speaker bid.

Nick LaLota, a New York Republican who opposed Jordan again today, said outside the chamber that this vote “absolutely” is evidence it’s time to empower Speaker Pro Tem Patrick McHenry. He added that Jordan losing ground says it was a “tactical error” for him to bring up a second ballot without ironing out issues with his detractors first.

House again rejects Jim Jordan as speaker, with GOP defections mounting
Jim Jordan has lost the second election for House speaker, as more Republicans voted against elevating him to the chamber’s leadership role.

Jordan lost 22 GOP votes, two more than in the initial round of balloting on Tuesday. He received 199 votes in total, while Democratic minority leader Hakeem Jeffries received 212.

Patrick Henry seems to be the best route I've seen thus far, well, I mean, if they are not going to allow Jeffries to lead them.
 
Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark.) said opposition to Rep. Jim Jordan is “profound” and that the members who are against him do not want anything, but rather are against him in principle. He says Jordan’s tactics, which some have called “House of Cards,” are more “House of Shards.”

“All I can tell you is that the tactics that they have employed against me, the publishing of my office phone number, and the messages, whether it’s conservative media or anybody else, this is all a result of going after people who do not basically represent the viewpoint of a whole lot of hardcore right-wing conservatives.”

Correct. Values, principles, and the ability to govern as adults are not part of the equation. It i about continuing the insurrection.
 
I realize that four hundred grand is an embarrassingly miserly paycheck for the position of POTUS.

How is the "Freedom Caucus" still walking around freely?
An effective leader would have "disappeared" them long ago.

I've never seen the Republiclown Party in such disarray. Even after Watergate it wasn't this bad. The independents like me are going to decide the 2024 elections and it's looking like it's going to happen as you say.

The Republican establishment is in very serious talks with Democrats to form a coalition government with power-sharing agreements on Committees and subpoena power for Democrats.

This coalition would be a complete betrayal of the Republican voters who worked hard, volunteered, donated and ensured Republicans won back the House.

We do not want compromise or a coalition government with the Democrats.

We do not want a Speaker that Democrats feel comfortable with.

We want Jim Jordan and we want him now.

If they can't deliver on this, and capitulate to some type of bipartisan agreement on Speaker, I can assure you that everyone who votes for the deal will be primaried and never hold public office again.
