"John Kelly, the longest-serving White House chief of staff for Donald Trump, offered his harshest criticism yet of the former president in an exclusive statement to CNN. Kelly set the record straight with on-the-record confirmation of a number of damning stories about statements Trump made behind closed doors attacking US service members and veterans, listing a number of objectionable comments Kelly witnessed Trump make firsthand.

“What can I add that has not already been said?” Kelly said, when asked if he wanted to weigh in on his former boss in light of recent comments made by other former Trump officials.

“A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them.’ A person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’ A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family – for all Gold Star families – on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France.

“A person who is not truthful regarding his position on the protection of unborn life, on women, on minorities, on evangelical Christians, on Jews, on working men and women,” Kelly continued. “A person that has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about. A person who cavalierly suggests that a selfless warrior who has served his country for 40 years in peacetime and war should lose his life for treason – in expectation that someone will take action. A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law.

“There is nothing more that can be said,” Kelly concluded. “God help us.”

John Kelly confirms Trump’s ‘suckers’ remark about war dead


“A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family – for all Gold Star families – on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France.”

Several senior staffers told The Atlantic at the time that Trump did not want to visit the graves of the American soldiers buried at Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, saying “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” The former president also referred to the 1,800 U.S. Marines killed at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed.


“A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law,” Kelly said in his statement.

“There is nothing more that can be said,” Kelly added. “God help us.”

I would like to hope that this guy would not just flat out lie to stay in the good graces of power but my biggest mistake this life has been over optimism.

It's amazing how many of Trump's closest advisors said the same scathing things about Trump.
These aren't rivals or Dems. These are people on the trump team, Republicans who say Trump is deranged, unhinged, irrational.

Republicans have had multiple Opportunities to pick a candidate with conservative policies but with better character and morals than Trump.


At this point, all data is pointing to the fact that conservatives actually love and agree with Trump's sleaze and immorality.

John Kelly confirms: Trump privately disparaged troops, veterans
It was in early September 2020, as early voting was poised to begin several states, when The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg published a staggering report on Donald Trump, his denigration of those who serve in the military, and his condemnation of fallen American heroes as “suckers” and “losers.”
The then-president wasted little time pushing back, insisting that the reporting was “made up“ and a “fake story.” Reflecting on the quotes attributed to him, Trump went on to say at a Labor Day press conference, “Who would say a thing like that? Only an animal would say things like that.”
Even at the time, the defenses were difficult to believe. In fact, much of the reporting in The Atlantic’s article was corroborated by related reporting from the Associated Press, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and even Fox News.
Three years later, it’s also been confirmed by Trump’s former White House chief of staff. CNN reported:

Overwhelmingly those who speak to Trump being abhorrent and having no ethics and a lack of character are 'republi'cans', who were all 'the best people', he picked and brought into his administration.


Overwhelmingly those who testify to Trump's criminality and lack of ethics around law and the Constitution are 'republi'cans', who were in the Trump administration or in his companies, who he chose or hired.


And yet the Trump derp cultists have one reply to those FACTS and that is they are all just 'RINO's' and 'never Trumpers', showing how deep into the cult they are.

I think it would be a little bit more precise to say that they are attracted by the angry, spiteful tone of his rhetoric and they just don't care tht he's a sleazebag.

I saw a clip of a speech he was making in Michigan a few days ago to a bunch of non-union, non-auto workers, and it struck me that the tone of his rhetoric was all meant to appeal to the anger and resentment of people's dissatisfaction with the unfulfillment of what they think their lives are supposed to be and how he blames it all on his enemies.

Trump seizes on that and exploits it like nobody else, but I think that it's the way the words come out of his mouth that draws these people in.

The way it sounds seems to strike a chord with them.

It seems to attract them like moths to a flame.
 
Every person of substance who was in Trump's administration has said he is an incompetent and dangerous idiot. That group includes Kelly, Tillerson, Pruitt, McMasters, Cohn, Corker, Bannon, Flake, and McCain, among many others. The self-delusion required to think Trump is a good person or a good politician is formidable. He should be in jail.
