John Oliver: The Raw Greed Of Ticketmaster

The presentation of big-name acts has been corporatized, and largely become out of reach to people of average means.

I got to see big name shows back when that was reasonable.

Looks like those days are over.

I'll probably never go to another big name concert again.

This is just ridiculous. Naked raw greed is so ugly. Unrestrained capitalism is not a pretty thing. This is totally unregulated. No government interference.

But the good thing is that local and regional touring bands and performers are awesome. Every bit as good as the big names.

Some of the best shows I have ever been to were not big-name performers, but local and small name acts.

That will certainly have to suffice for the average person who cannot afford the outrageous prices of big names.

Yeah, I saw this "local" band called "Molly Hatchet" for free at a bar on New Year's Eve in the 90s.

I had made a Tic-Tac container weed pipe that night, would not recommend ever doing that.

Ticketmaster just merged with LiveNation, which owns the concert rights to most of the large venues in the country.

This is what raw greed and unregulated capitalism do.

They essentially have a monopoly on big name acts.
