‘Unprecedented’ lethal weather starts to engulf European nations.

As Europe feels the heat, politicians are sweating.

In the U.K., an emergency Cabinet meeting was called Saturday to discuss Britain’s first-ever “Extreme Red” heat warning. In France, one lawmaker described the sweltering weather as “hell.” In Portugal, the prime minister is monitoring dangerous forest fires.

With temperatures in Western Europe set to soar beyond 40 degrees Celsius this week, Southern Europe is already fighting the effects of more blistering summer heat, which scientists say is a result of the world’s changing climate.

Across the Mediterranean, firefighters have struggled to contain blazes, rivers have run dry and thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes. So far, more than 230 people have died from heat-related effects in Spain and 238 in Portugal, according to local media reports.

The temperatures — the result of a slow-moving high-pressure area, bringing scorching air up from North Africa — are expected to continue this week and move north and eastward toward France, Germany, Belgium and the U.K.

If you have ever been in the UK or Ireland when it is hot, countries where air conditioning isn't common, I can't imagine what it is like now

Majority of the right knows man made climate change is real, but they are never going to do anything in regard to addressing it in fear of their climate deniers hostility, nothing is more effective on the right like cheap demagoguery, and denying climate change is an easy sell

At some point we are going to relearn an ancient lesson: Adapting to change successfully is essential.

We are nowhere near at the moment, so much pain is going to have to come first.

Oh, so record heat, wild fires, and drought are something not worth noticing

Poor anchovies. Climate is comprised of weather reports.

This concerns me. It really isn't - it's about studying patterns over time.

Conservatives need to get up to speed on this issue. It's not partisan. And if things really go south, literally no other issue that we debate about matters.

We must adapt to life as it is.

We are refusing.

I remember as a kid growing up in New Orleans we didn't have air conditioning. If you never had it you don't miss it. We never had AC in school until the ninth grade. Fans seemed to be just fine.

Pretty sure fans are enough in 110+ degree weather. :dunno:
