Just remember the Repubs did this

Point taken, the Florida delegation to the US House is majority Republican, which means it makes even LESS sense that a Republican US House pulled offshore drilling legislation to appease "the people of Florida" as the original idiot concluded.

Wrong AGAIN, Einstein.

The majority of republicans in the Florida congressional delegation, have a record of oppossing offshore drilling in Florida:

WASHINGTON - Almost every member of Florida's congressional delegation is calling for removal of language from Senate and House energy bills that proposes an inventory of natural gas and oil reserves in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, arguing it will undermine a decades-old moratorium on offshore drilling.

"Once again Florida's coastal treasures are coming under attack," said Rep. Jim Davis, D-Tampa. "In what is becoming a nearly annual battle, supporters of the oil industry are using every method possible to weaken the congressional moratoria on drilling of our most pristine coastlines."

Davis and Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Chumuckla, sent a letter to House and Senate leadership Tuesday, signed by 24 of 25 of Florida's members of Congress and Gov. Jeb Bush, explaining the majority of Floridians oppose drilling because of their concerns over an oil spill and the environmental and economic damage it could do. Rep. John Mica, R-Winter Park, didn't sign the letter.

BTW: for the record, you were wrong about Florida having two democratic senators, and you were wrong about guessing that the Florida U.S. House delegation was majority democrat.

Are you EVER right?

Okay so lets go back to your origional statement...

"Florida is mostly Democrat, and has been for quite some time."

Are you ready to admit that was wrong? If not what do you base that on?

I base it on the fact that we counted chads for 3 weeks in the advent of the 2000 presidential election, and the countless number of morons who didn't understand the butterfly ballots and voted for Buchanan instead of Gore.

I also never stated that Florida had two Democrat senators or that they had a mostly democrat US House. You twisted my words and made out like that is what I said, but people who want to scroll back and read the actual statement, can clearly see I didn't say what you claim I said.

This is a picture perfect example of how pinheads want to make me "wrong" without any basis for that assertion. You simply take something out of context, drop the important words you don't want to hear, and pretend I've said something entirely different than what I actually said, and proclaim me "wrong" about something, and add it to all the other false assertions of the same kind. I guess you think people are too stupid to read anything except how you misconstrue my statements, and won't bother to review what I actually said. Maybe that works with retards like Lummox and Alexx, but most thoughtful and intellectual people are smarter than that.

My goodness, I don't recall them voting on the legislation in question, it was pulled before a vote was taken. I have not mentioned a single word about previous legislation of this nature, or how Florida representatives may have voted on those bills, that was never a part of this debate. How can I be "wrong" about something I never argued? Only in Prissyworld!

Nice try but..... WRONG Again EINSTEIN, How does the fact that we counted Chads (the fact that the presidental election was so close) bolster your stupid comment that Florida is mostly democratic and has been for some time???

Well because if the old farts in West Palm had cast their votes properly, Al Gore would have won Florida... Al Gore IS a Democrat! Hence, most of Florida (who voted) is Democrat. Let's keep in mind, my quote was in reference to a pinhead who claimed the offshore legislation was pulled to keep from pissing off Floridians. My point was to say, Florida is neither totally Democrat or totally Republican, it is fairly evenly divided, and that means that at least half of Florida would not be pissed off. Previous legislation is not relevant, because the legislation that was pulled, addressed issues people had with previous legislation, that's how bills work. There is not a way to say, because Republicans opposed an offshore bill from 2 years ago, they would also not support this one, because they are two different bills. Assuming this, you would also have to assume that Florida Republicans are mired in ideology to a point of no concession, and I don't believe that has been established.

Simply put, it's not possible that the legislation was pulled to keep from pissing off Floridians, that doesn't even make logical sense... it was pulled because a majority Democrat congress would have voted along party lines, and killed the bill. Once that happens, the legislation has to start its long journey over again, and I'm sure Republicans felt it was important enough to avoid this bureaucracy, re-work the language, include it in some other legislation, or whatever, so as to get it passed at the soonest possible time.

The premise presented in this thread, is false. It is an attempt by a Democrat, to smear Republicans, and try to make it seem as though they did something behind the backs of their constituents, when that is not the case at all.

SO you are trying to say that because a very small majority of Florida voters voted for Gore in 2000 that makes Florida a "Democratic state, that has been for a long time"?

You truley are an idiot, however I am glad to finally hear you admit that Bush was not the truely elected president of the United States.

Sure am, Einstein!

I don't believe I said that, Einstein, maybe you should read it again, Einstein?
...And maybe try to learn how to spell "truly", Einstein.

Dixie the spelling nazi should remember the adage about glass houses

Normally I am not that picky about it, I have misspelled words before too. I just couldn't resist pointing it out to the moron who keeps calling me Einstein... I guess I should be impressed he spelled Einstein right. That whole "i" before "e" except after "c" thing, you know? I shouldn't give the moron that much credit, he probably Googled it.

By the way, Nazi should be capitalized. :pke:

Okay, EINSTEIN, Florida is a democratic state and has been for a long time... You are about as creditable as a three dolar bill!

BTW, EINSTEIN,

You dont like your new nick name? I figured since you think you are an Einstein you would love it, and the rest of us can enjoy the irony of it!

Oh, I have no problem with it! I've been called much worse! In fact, I prefer Einstein over a lot of nicknames you could have picked, so you keep on repeating it. Better yet, let me insist that you heretofore refer to me as Einstein in every post, I command it! I can think of no better way to demonstrate the vast difference in our intellect, than likening me to Einstein! Now we just need to determine who is the opposite of Einstein, so we know what your new nickname should be...

hmmm.... Oofty Goofty? Yeah, that will work!

Ya gotta admit - I got him!

i bow to your gotcha kingship
