Yeah, free speech is a wicked thing.

Thomas Sowell may be America's deepest thinker. He says that our societal fixes should be thought of as tradeoffs instead of solutions.

In that regard, we have free speech but is that a tradeoff we make instead of having a more sane and civil and orderly society?

The founders assumed we would be a moral and religious people and that was the ingredient needed to allow us free speech.

Without our self control that Christianity provided, enjoying free speech is like having dessert without first eating one's vegetables.
