Kenneth Ray Rogers (August 21, 1938 – March 20, 2020) was an American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, and entrepreneur. He was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013.[1] Rogers was particularly popular with country audiences but also charted more than 120 hit singles across various music genres, topped the country and pop album charts for more than 200 individual weeks in the United States alone. He sold over 100 million records worldwide during his lifetime, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Kenny will be missed.

My favorite was a song Kenny did, that he didn't even like! Islands in The Stream. Well, OK, he liked it only if Dolly helped him sing it!

Barry Gibb wrote the song thinking he could get Marvin Gaye to sing it, but that didn't work out for some reason or another.

So while in Nashville, he pitched it to Kenny, and after a few solo tries, Kenny said, "I don't even like this song." But, Dolly had just left the same studio, and Kenny told Barry, "Go get Dolly, I need her help"! He did!

After the first try with Dolly, Kenny told Barry, "I like this song now"! LOL!

Turned out to be C & W's best selling hit ever!

Thanks for a great story!

I used to dance to this at a local club my friends friends performed at.

And it's not my favorite dance tune, but it is a pleasant reminder of better times.

Yeah, it's really special good.

I was forged in Rockford Il 60's-70's, then conservative and a backwater on purpose....people moved to Rockford to raise families quietly....after the Elm Trees were gone Rockfords claim to fame was that we had more park/forest preserve/conserved wild land acres per capita than any other place in America....to give you a sense of what Rockford was then.

Kenny was extremely popular in Rockford.

Doctor: Can I see?
Patient: I hope so.
Doctor: Stop that you’re going to drive me to drink.
Patient: No problem, I passed the test with flying colors.

I’m obviously not him but this never ever happened to me. Not even close.
What did they do to make sure it never happened again. The steak house!
