Russia said President Trump’s foreign policy “largely aligns” with its vision.
“The new administration is rapidly changing all foreign policy configurations,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, according to Russian state media. “This largely aligns with our vision.”
Peskov said the Trump administration’s approach could bring new progress between Washington and Moscow, after years of being iced out and placed under Biden-era sanctions for the war.
“There is a long way to go because a lot of damage has been done to the whole complex of bilateral relations,” he said, per The Washington Post. “But if the political will of the two leaders, President Putin and President Trump, is maintained, this path can be quite quick and successful.”
