Kudos to Kevin McCarthy

For months, the GOP has given off a vibe that they could take or leave a deal on the debt ceiling. But McCarthy has shown a genuine commitment to working out a deal w/ the WH. He seems to really understand the stakes, and wants to work out a compromise.

Props to him.

I don't want to see the Dem's back down on work requirements for Snap and Medicaid recipients?!! Has nothing to do with rising the debt limit?!!

I just can't do it. He is a sycophant who gave his power to the far right. Finally doing the right thing just doesn't undo the rest of his idiocy. The question is, why is McCarthy making a deal that will get him recalled. I really, really hope the Dems didn't agree to save him. He seems way too optimistic.

There are plenty of jobs available

And while a default is unprecedented, meaning it's impossible to predict exactly what could happen, the think-tank Bipartisan Policy Center released an analysis illustrating which federal programs could be the first to go unpaid in the event of a default, based on daily Treasury statements. At the top of the list are Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP, along with Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments — all programs that retirees heavily rely upon.

apparently you folks don't realize McCarthy won.....

These people have no record of integrity or honesty.....I expect that any alleged agreement will include the agreement that there will be back doors that can/will be used outside of the knowledge oif the citizens, who are now treated substantially less well than the illegals are.

Dont be Dumb.

As I think we saw in the Fox News Dominion agreement there is the agreement that is written down and that the people are told, then there is the rest of the story, the secret part.

People receiving government assistance like SNAP, Medicaid, and other welfare and social assistance programs should be held to standards that will move them off those programs as quickly as possible. Work requirements, education requirements, and the like should be mandatory. That means you, signalman, have get a GED and a job.

What makes you think the Democrats will cause a default?

He is much more moderate than I thought he’d be. Gave Biden what he wanted.

Biden and I agree on reasonable work requirements, that was all it took so I’m happy!
