He is a political neophyte.
He didn't think things through very well.
He doesn't understand the political process.
He figured he would grandstand and grab some headlines by claiming to care about Americans so much that he felt they should get the $2K checks.
That's all fine and well, but his timing revealed how false it was.
If he understood the political process he would have been a part of the negotiations while they were going on in Congress, pushing for what he wanted.
But no. He was out golfing.
Then, after Congress did it's thing, meaning the negotiations didn't reach their crescendo until they absolutely had to do something before they broke and left for their holiday, THAT'S when Trump decided to steal the headlines in typical Trump fashion.
The only problem was what he was demanding was quite impossible at that point. It couldn't have been done in time to prevent some people from losing benefits. And he forgot all about the government spending appropriation which was attached to the bill. There would have been a government shut down had he held out for what he wanted. The implications of that would have made the crisis far worse.
That's why he had to cave and go ahead and sign. It would have been a disaster if he hadn't. That made him look like a fool for coming out and saying he was refusing to sign, and then signing anyway.
He didn't think things through very well, as usual.
Just like his nonsense about wanting to drop protections for Social Media Companies, and holding out for that before he would sign the Defense Policy Bill.
He is holding our defense agencies hostage so that he can acquire the power to come down harder on Social Media Companies. He doesn't like that Twitter can label his posts garbage.
What a political neophyte.
He just doesn't understand how things work.
