One was just a black guy the other was lil' john

We went through roxbury to a party. All the blacks in roxbury thought it was cool. Then we went to a roadside BBQ.
 
Actually one of my roommates REALLY pulled it off so I think they thought he may have actually been black. No so much for lil john though.

I was a pimp by the way, lol.
 
It just shows that newer generations are able to laugh and not find stuff like that offensive and protest worthy like the Darla generation.

I think there is some show now where blacks and whites switch places and use makeup to make themselves look like they are the opposite race, can't remember what it's called.
 
Here is something about human nature. When someone is offended by something like this the stupidest thing you can do is to insist they should not be offeneded. Try that with your girlfriend /wife. Tell her something offensive about women and then tell her she has no right to be offended because your friend Mark's girlfriend wasnt offened and see how that works out for you?

Race realations is nothing but human relations and until you get that through your head you will continue to be mystified by it. One human may not find it offensive but others may. The minute you tell someone they have no right to be offended when you insult them that is the momment you have just compounded your stupidity.

I really wish you people would stop wishing this away instead of dealing with it like adults.

You cannot expect adult behavior from people with the minds of children.

Only the immature, not fully developed mind would not understand the all-too obvious truth of what you've said. Only a fool would find pride in posting a thread crowing about he and his friends dressing up in blackface .. that screams "WE ARE NOT INTELLIGENT PEOPLE."

With all that is going on politically in this country, seeing pea-brain threads like this is mind-boggling .. but very telling. Not only would only children engage in this stupidity .. also only a REPUBLICAN / CONSERVATIVE would do it.

Republicans with brains should be embarrassed to have such vermin associated with anything they're associated with.

I'm not crowing, I was saying my friends dressed up as black people and went through ROXBURY and no one there even cared. My point was it wasn't a big deal.

By the way both of the kids were straight up democrats. Shove that in your pipe and smoke it
 
Pretending to be someone like Little Jon', Shaquille O'neal, or anyone of another race would require that you wear makeup if you want to go all out. That is still not the same as just plain out blackface, where black people were clearly discriminated against to prevent them from becoming stage actors along with the whites.

Get it now?

Wearing black makeup just to keep a black man from taking the stage = racist
Wearing black makeup to be funny by pretending to be a certain black person = Same as impersonating anyone else..
 
The POINT was that it wasn't a big deal... it wasn't meant to be offensive, and it wasn't taken as offensive. It was about fun on Halloween. Maybe it's a youth thing... we aren't so hung up on this stuff anymore... whether we are white brown black yellow or indigo.

Just for fun, why don't you put on black-face on any day other than Halloween and walk down Blue Hill Ave? I'll look for you on 7 News at 11.

As an aside, what BBQ joint did you go to? I'm somewhat an aficionado. Blue Ribbon in West Newton and Arlington are the best around.
 
No No No, it was roadside.. it's actually in roxbury in the summer and fall months every friday night. It's freaking awesome to because it's going on at like 4 -5 am. Everyone in roxbury is just chilling having a good time and you can have hot dogs, sausages, burgers . . it's sick.

It's near north Hampton street if you know where that is at.

Btw where is blue hill ave?

Blue Hill Ave runs from Roxbury through a little bit of Dorchester and into Mattapan and Hyde Park.
