Latest in Stimulus: 'Cash for Refrigerators'

he said it last october...

Now, make no mistake: the change we need won’t come easy or without cost. We will all need to tighten our belts, we will all need to sacrifice and we will all need to pull our weight because now more than ever, we are all in this together.

i haven't heard him say any different, nor do i see him spreading his own wealth around....well....i guess to 35 thousand dollar a week mansions in martha's vineyard

Where does it say he's paying $35K/week? The only thing I found was an article saying: "Obama and family are planning to holiday at a Martha’s Vineyard property of the sort that rents for $35,000-$50,000 a week."

It"s possible, not probable. Big difference.

I don't, but my wife wants to replace our perfectly good one with stainless steel to match the remaining appliances. Maybe I'll go buy a real old one at the Re-store and trade that in, and use this one downstairs for beer. LOL

Great idea on the beer cooler! We have a small one, but Bud wants to upgrade!

Don't get sucked up in minutia. The greater point is, "Who cares?"

Liberals complained about trickle-down because rich guys did NOT spend their money. Rich guys actually spending it is a good thing. Yurt's just a hack who is stretching the comparison for the sake of another hypocrisy "gotcha."

I'm glad Obama isn't hoarding his $35K. All rich guys (and girls) should take note.

Latest in Stimulus: 'Cash for Refrigerators'

$300 million cash-for-clunkers-type federal program to boost sales of energy-efficient home appliances provides a glimmer of hope for beleaguered makers of washing machines and dishwashers, but it's probably not enough to lift companies such as Whirlpool (NYSE:WHR - News) and Electrolux out of the worst down cycle in the sector's history.

this is funny....dems complained bush gave money to EVIL corporations, bailouts etc....and all i've heard from the stimulus is money to corporations, big business....but corporations are evil...
Dude, chill out!

LOL it's hilarious. I really like the duplicity of calling insurance companies evil at the begining of the week, and by week's end, planning on forcing people to buy insurance from them.

Insurance is good when it is fair. My daughter worked for a big name insurance company before she became a state employee.

She says on some issues there is an automatic letter of denial that goes out to the "insured" the insurance companies relies on the "insured" not to contest it, the majority don't. Those who do, get the coverage in most of the cases she handled. Those who don't contest it get screwed!

This is the practice I see as evil. Insurance, unfortunately, is a necessary evil.

I think this is more hit and miss stuff that is too spread out and rather random to actually have any long-standing positive effect.

It seems more desperate than effective. Three weeks of good car sales will not save the car industry, another couple weeks of refrigerator sales will have short spikes but no long lasting benefit...

It seems to be stumbling around throwing random darts.

I won't disagree with that. I think they are throwing everything they can out there; some things will work, some won't.

However, I think it's a bit of a mistake to say that the entire effort is throwing darts. Stuff like this certainly is, but there is a larger, more thought-out & concerted effort with regard to the economy that serves as a backdrop.

But the whole point is for it to be short-term. I don't think you quite understand the concept. You might want to just sit this one out.

LOL Last "family reunion" after about 30 beers I started saying "The Democrat Party is the racist Party" over and over to the 20-somethings that admitted that they voted for Obama. Then I'd list the six civil rights acts that the Democrats fought against "staring with 1868, and ending shamefully in 1968". Not loudly though, just normal conversation tone that everyone could hear. LOL
