Department of State grant (2023)

Recipient: Her Yerde Sanat Dernegi

Amount: $57,000

Purpose: Design and implement the Flying Carpet Children's Festival and a series of photography workshops collectively known as Sirkhane Darkroom.

Country: Turkey

The U.S. State Department's $57,000 grant to Her Yerde Sanat Dernegi is another example of taxpayer dollars being funneled into foreign projects while American children face cuts in domestic arts programs.

This Turkish NGO's initiatives, like the Flying Carpet Children’s Festival and Sirkhane Darkroom, may sound noble, but they divert funds from rebuilding our schools and securing our borders.

It's time to prioritize American needs and stop subsidizing global pet projects. Taxpayer dollars should serve Americans first, not fund cultural initiatives abroad.

Zelensky must mend the breach with Trump — or resign

On Thursday, President Donald Trump was publicly pledging to help Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regain Russian-occupied territory at the peace table. “A lot of the sea line has been taken, and we’ll be talking about that,” Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. “And we’re going to see if we can get it back or get a lot of it back for Ukraine.”

A day later, Zelensky was engaged in an unprecedented war of words with Trump in the Oval Office — after which the planned signing of a historic minerals deal between the two countries was shelved.

The blowup was Zelensky’s fault. To understand why, one needs to watch the entire 50-minute meeting unfold. Trump greeted Zelensky graciously, praising the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people, and dismissed their earlier rift as “a little negotiations spat.”

It should be considered a direct affront to the Trump Administration that Serhiy Leshchenko is now serving as Advisor of President Zelensky’s chief of staff.

Leshchenko, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, was a common thread in Democrat opposition research efforts into former Trump campaign Chairman Paul Manafort.

Leshchenko, along with Artem Sytnyk, the director of Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), was responsible for publicly disclosing the contents of the Ukrainian “black ledger,” which implicated Manafort, to the media.

NABU worked directly with the Obama WH in January 2016 and has an FBI office on-site.

A story unto itself.

Although the media swooned over the ledger (Manafort was removed from the Trump Campaign and later ended up being charged by Mueller), the ledger itself appears to have been a giant fabrication.

Leshchenko also served as a source for various individuals who were attacking Trump, including journalist Michael Isikoff and DNC operative Alexandra Chalupa.

In addition, Nellie Ohr testified that Leshchenko served as a direct source of information for herself and Fusion GPS.

Interesting as Nellie Ohr sent an email to her husband Bruce Ohr (and three other DOJ officials) on May 30, 2016 with the earliest known reference to the Black Ledger.

Regardless, the idea that Leshchenko is a top advisor to Andriy Yermak and Zelensky gives some obvious insight into Zelensky's recent meeting with President Trump.
