Lets Be Honest...Barack Obama CANT WIN

Look I love Barack Obama...

I like him more than Hillary Clinton...

But he cannot win the presidency...

A black man running for president might succeed in 2050...

But now is not the time, still way too many racist southern conservative voters to ever let that happen...

You think they voted in droves against John Kerry and Al Gore.... Wait till they see a black man...

You know we can talk about gender, religion, and race...

Gender and Religion can hinder people's electoral prospects...but its RACE that will destroy it....

The USA is a conservative country... I'm not lying its a fact... Look even in Canada which i consider alot more progressive as a country....we have not elected a black prime minister.... although we did have a female PM by accident....

Stating the truth is hard, and even though Barack Obama is probably better than any other candidate...He cant fight the albatross around his neck...

So I'm not saying vote for Hillary or Edwards... I'm just saying if you want to win... You better chose somebody else...

You do an excellent job of flaming Canadian Kid.

I have to agree. I don't think it is right that things are like that, but I have to admit that there is still too much racism in America.

The Best DEM candidate is the NON-candidate....Al Gore...

The best REP candidate is Rudy Giulani....

in terms of electoral prospects...

Gore had his chance when Clinton HANDED him the presidency .. but Gore still managed to fuck it up.

Guiliani would be the best candidate for dems to run against because he's so putrid and would bring ot a Guiliani backlash every bit as fervent as anti-Hillary.

I suspect that Obama will be Hillary's VP choice, which would make the ticket unbeatable .. then he'll spend 8 years being groomed for the presidency.

Yes Gore did screw up in 2000...However for the 2008 he is by FAR the one DEM candidate that could unite the base and reach out to independents...

Rudy Giuliani is BY FAR the best REP candidate... He is a likeable guy lets be honest and that still counts for alot...Conservative activists are known to swallow their tongues...They will oppose the DEM nominee with even more aggression than in 2004...Religious Conservatives are the ultimate hypocrites and I wouldnt be surprised at all if they love the thrice-married, cheating, childen alienated cross dressing mayor...

If you see some of the REP polls...Rudy comes out 1st on the REP voters that call themselves "very religious"

I agree. Gore looks like a great candidate only when he isn't running. Besides, he isn't interested: he's having too much fun -- and accomplishing too much as well -- doing what he's doing now.

Forget Gore. Gore will never be nominated. Forget Kinda Sleazy Rice. Rice will never be nominated -- for similar reasons, ironically enough.

The Democratic primary is actually looking to be more interesting than I'd thought it would be. Obama and Edwards both are putting up more of a fight than I'd expected.

If it's racism holding Obama back how do you account for the fact that polling shows Obama with less than half of the black vote? Are blacks self hating or racist against themselves?

People keep saying it and people keep ignoring it. At this point in 2003 when eveyone was campaigning John Kerry was 4th in national polls. Hillary continues to see her lead dwindle in Iowa and NH. Someone could be the dark horse and beat her there. I remember in 1992 when they said the governor from Arkansas had NO CHANCE to be the president.

Blacks are being realistic...

They know that Barack cant win...Yet they also love the guy....

So thats why its split 50/50

If blacks THOUGHT Barack Obama could win the presidency - that the USA wasnt still a racist conservative nation than they would be voting for him 90% of the time...

The truth is black people see the same thing I see...Racism, prejudice, hatred...

I know its tough for some of you Ron Paul lovin, KKK supporting, Religious Deifying, Gay Marriage bashing, theocrats to understand...

Good point. And at this point last cycle, Dean was the sure nominee for the Dems, as I recall.

Your ignorance is beautiful CK. Go read today's paper about black attitudes in America.

I don't believe Dean ever had the commanding lead that Hillary has today. Certainly there is still plenty of time for her to falter or another candidate to make a strong run at her, but that is a pretty big cushion she has.

Dean had a commanding lead in the Fall of 2003, but he didn't have the institutional support Hillary does.

That said, things can change fast. Iowa is still a statistical dead heat. And things can change lightning fast for someone who wins Iowa. We saw Dean's leads crater almost immediately after Iowa, and the money and votes pouring into the previously moribund kerry campaign.

Someone should goad Hillary into killing a baby on national tv.

Perhaps then she will falter as frontrunner.

Barring that, it seems likely she will be the nominee of her party.

Study: Black pessimism worst since 1980s
Blacks increasingly less certain about racial progress in America

updated 6:58 p.m. ET, Tues., Nov. 13, 2007
WASHINGTON - Growing numbers of blacks say they’re worse off than five years ago and don’t expect their lives to improve, a study released Tuesday shows. Black pessimism about racial progress in America, according to the study, is the worst it’s been in more than two decades.

The survey by the Pew Research Center, a Washington-based research organization, paints a mixed picture of race relations following Hurricane Katrina and the Jena Six case, in which six black teens were charged with beating a white student at a high school in the town of Jena, La.

It found that just one in five blacks, or 20 percent, said things were better off for blacks compared with five years ago; that is the smallest percentage since 1983, when 20 percent also made that claim. In-between, the percentage of blacks who said things had gotten better had grown, only to drop back to 20 percent.

Income gap hasn't narrowed
Moreover, the income gap between black and white families has grown, according to a new study being released Tuesday that tracked the incomes of some 2,300 families for more than 30 years. Incomes have increased among both black and white families in the past three decades — mainly because more women are in the work force. But the increase was greater among whites, according to the study conducted by the Pew Charitable Trust’s Economic Mobility Project, which is separate from the Pew Research Center.

Among black men, incomes have declined in the past three decades, when adjusted for inflation. They were offset only by gains among black women.

In the Jena Six case, some black leaders said that only charging the black teens was questionable since the beating followed a number of racially charged incidents in which white students hung nooses on a school campus. Many poor and black people also faulted the Bush administration for its response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Other results
Among the findings:

By a ratio of 2 to 1, blacks say the values of poor and middle-class blacks have grown more different over the past decade (61 percent to 31 percent). Most blacks, 54 percent, say the values of blacks and whites have grown more alike during the same period.

Most blacks believe racial discrimination is pervasive when applying for a job (67 percent), renting an apartment or buying a house (65 percent), eating at restaurants and shopping (50 percent) or applying to a college or university (43 percent). That’s compared with whites who, by majorities of 2-to-1 or more, said blacks rarely face bias in such situations.

While saying prejudice is widespread, blacks were less likely to believe discrimination is the main reason they cannot get ahead. Fifty-three percent of blacks said they are mainly responsible for their situation, compared with 30 percent who blame it on racial discrimination. As recently as the mid-1990s, black opinion on this question tilted in the opposite direction.

Blacks are twice as likely as whites to view the death penalty as being applied in an unfair manner. On the other hand, a majority of blacks expressed confidence in police — 55 percent say they have a great deal or fair amount of confidence in police to enforce the law, compared with 49 percent who said this in 1995.

Any more evidence cawacko....

I got mountains of evidence to prove your lack of intelligence...

I'll take your comments of being an idiot as a compliment. Thank you.

From today's LA Times:

A majority of black Americans blame individual failings -- not racial prejudice -- for the lack of economic progress by lower-income African Americans, according to a survey released Tuesday -- a significant change in attitudes from the early 1990s.
