Let's get something straight about R's and Health Care...

I keep reading through these long painful threads about health care reform, and the liberals seem to think all sorts of things about the right on this issue. I thought it might be a good idea to clarify some of the gross misconceptions and myths the left has about our position.

To begin, we must first go back to the FDR era, and what happened in America after WWII. When the soldiers came home from war, they began to raise families, a huge number of babies were subsequently born, and grew up to become the generation known as "Baby Boomers" because they were the result of a boom in babies following WWII. Tens of millions of extra people began to blend into the workforce, and as a result, lots of income was being made. The overpopulation problem began to cause some other social problems for our society, some people were poor, and couldn't afford medical care, other people were getting old, and couldn't afford medical care, so in 1965, our government passed the Social Security Act, and began taking a portion of our paychecks each week, to set aside for our retirement, and also to provide medical care for the elderly through Medicare, and the same thing for the poor through Medicaid.

The reason we did this was because we didn't want people to get sick and have no means of medical care, and eventually die. We also didn't want them to have to sell their homes and property to pay for medical care. Since then, we have added to this by including federal funding for states to build health clinics, again, to provide health care for any American who can't afford it. In the 1980s, we passed federal mandates requiring every hospital in America to provide emergency services to any America, regardless of their ability to pay, a-gain... because we didn't want people dying in the streets because of lack of medical care. We adopted the WIC program, to provide poor families with nutritious food for their children, a-gain... so they would be healthier and not get sick as often.

Now it seems to me, any objective look at what we've done since WWII to make sure every American has access to health care across the board, would be obvious. But the left somehow thinks the right is opposed to this most recent health care reform, because we just don't want to pay for the poor getting medical care. Let's just forget the fact that we have already paid TRILLIONS into the system which was supposed to take care of not only the medical needs, but also the retirement needs of the elderly. Here is what happened... the money is gone! While the "baby boomers" were raising their families, working hard to make money, paying their taxes like good citizens in good faith, the government was getting more and more money because of the large influx of working "boomers" ...while the actual number of old people retiring was still relatively small... Politicians saw where we could afford to pay for all of the retirements currently out there, and take care of all the old sick people out there at the time, and still had all this extra money left over. It was supposed to be set aside for the 'boomers' when they got old and retired. Well, it was just too easy for politicians to start dipping into the money, spending it on this and that, until one day someone said... hey guys, what are we going to do when all these millions of 'baby boomers' retire? We can't afford to fund their retirements or health care, we have spent that money already. As of yet, they really haven't come up with a viable solution to this solvency problem, the system will go completely broke in a few more decades.

Now, instead of trying to fix the problem, instead of trying to do something to shore up the funds in Social Security, this has all been shoved to the back burner, and the left is screaming and moaning about the poor and elderly not being able to get health care. Young mush-brains who weren't around in 1965, and have no idea what a 'baby boomer' even is, or what has transpired with our government over the past 50 years, are easily duped into thinking this issue is just about helping the poor get health care, and those of us opposed to what is being suggested, are obviously just not wanting to provide help for the needy. Nothing could be further from the truth, and if that were the case, we would have never adopted the Social Security program, Medicare, Medicaid, Indigent Care laws, AFDC, WIC, or all of the funding for the states to establish health departments over the years.

The point the right is trying to make is, these "nationalized health care" programs already exist! They are BROKE! We can't afford what we currently have on the books, much less the millions of 'baby boomers' who are beginning to retire now. Our government, (namely democrats), want you to forget about the insolvency problems with Social Security, Medicare and Medicade, so they have devised this new scheme of "Universal Health Care" and it all sounds so wonderful... but it is the same exact thing we did 50 years ago, which is now broke because politicians spent all the money.

The next myth is that the right is "greedy" and doesn't want to pay for the health care of others less fortunate. Again, nothing could be further from the truth. We've already paid, for 50 years we've been paying.... we have nothing to show for it because the politicians spent the money! Those of us in the 'baby boomer' generation have gotten the royal screw, and the left want to screw us yet again, while trying to use a guilt trip on us, and it's pissing us off.

I keep hearing pinheads yammer about how this new program is going to SAVE money, but let me tell you the only way it will save money... by taking over control of your health decisions and making those choices for you. We've already seen them roll out a test of this with last week's announcement that women don't really need those mammograms as much as they thought. This is just the start of it, the new program isn't even in effect yet, and the government is already setting you up for what is to come.

Those of you on the left, foolish enough to believe this load of horseshit from the politicians in Washington, will continue to believe that this is the answer to all our woes, and if we could only do this, we will all be happy and well, and the government will take care of us from this day forward. You believe that "universal health care" is some miracle cure for illness in America, and with this, no one will ever have to suffer again. People won't have to go bankrupt to see a doctor... no... they will be told they don't really need to see a doctor, they aren't sick enough. It is your idiocy and incompetence, along with your lack of understanding of what has happened over the past 50 years in American government, which prevents you from letting go of your bleeding liberal heart strings for a moment and THINK about it! No, instead of that, you want to demonize the right, claim we want people to be sick, we are greedy and don't want to pay for others who can't afford to go to the doctor... when all we have done is PAY... PAY... PAY... PAY... and then be told the system is bankrupt because politicians STOLE the money!
