The stimulus can't work until the health bill is repealed. Lose the mandate. Keep the coverage protections.

The reason the mandate has to go is that employers will stop offering insurance and let the employees deal with the mandated coverage themselves while paying the fine for not covering.

Government likes this solution because it gives them extra funds with no strings. It's a pure win for the government when your employer pays a fine on your behalf and you're left to buy your own insurance anyway. If you still have coverage offered by your employer, you will no longer recieve it on a pre-tax basis. The cost of coverage will be reported on a 10-99 form as misc income to you. Either way, your company is no longer going to offer it on a pre-tax basis. You're taxable income just went up.

Everyone knew the insurance cos and employers would try to avoid at all costs actually helping the American people.

Now do you remember that insurance rates were skyrocketing without anything being done?

This is why the public option was needed.

But they passed it anyway. It was just a gift to the government, and insurance companies, to the detriment of everyone else, you stupid idiot.

Hurting everyone else.

I forgot how fucking stupid you are , bye

This rebuttal has failed you. You look stupider and more unaware of how damaging and repulsive this healthcare fiasco really is. The insurance companies are ecstatic about the captive customers obama has delivered them.

Fuck you , the bill is helping me personally you fucking idiot

so what.....none of the parts we are objecting to have started yet......you could have had the parts that are personally helping you a year earlier if the Dems had insisted on tacking all the ridiculous shit on top of it......

Without the mandate, you can't have protections for pre-existing conditions. That still will leave some people without coverage. If you try to answer that by, for instance, having the government pick up those extreme cases, you are basically giving insurance companies free reign to drop unprofitable people and have society pick up the costs. I don't really even see much of a role for insurance companies in either case - all they're doing here is just eating money and sending it to execs for no reason.

And anyway, you're not defunding the mandate, you're defunding subsidies to people who can't afford health insurance.

Where in the bill did they start taxing health benefits?

what the winners of the 2010 election do not understand is that as long as unemployment is up, a new set of congress critters will be elected...

what makes you think they don't understand that? that's what the Republicans have been talking about since getting elected (and what got them elected).

The ones who don't understand their mistake are the ones who oppose a single payer system. The Dems didn't want the "extra funds with no strings". The Dems didn't want "you're taxable income just went up".

This "damaging and repulsive healthcare fiasco", as AssHat describes it in msg 7, is the result of the long and winding road to universal coverage. The Dems wanted to go from "Point A" to "Point B" but the Repubs wanted to take the scenic and convoluted route.

Just like the HCR bill this, too, will pass and the obstructionists will see the error of their ways.

Dems? I thought it was both sides adding a lot of unnecessary crap.

I laugh every time I see your Warrior, it reminds me of a huge ass billboard in Houston,

Chad Pinkerton, Warrior Lawyer!

We don't have billboards in Alaska, it blocks the view...so I am overwhelmed when I travel in the "lower 48"
