Liberal New Yorkers are happy to pay higher taxes, aren't they?

They seem to view the government (local/state/federal) as being one big charitable organization, no matter what the government decides to do with their money... Either they naively believe that their tax-dollars are ALWAYS being used to help [lesser] people, or they have good lawyers/politicians who help them avoid actually paying the higher taxes altogether...
