Every week in my office there's a group of about 20 people, most secretary's and human resources folk, who pool their money and play the California State Lottery. And every week I hear them complain about not winning and being able to quit their jobs.

Now these people are of course free to do what ever they like with their money. But it just seems like such a waste when they each dump $20 - $50/week on Lotto tickets.

They're afraid that if they opt out of the pool, that will be the week the pool has the winning numbers.

But there is no reason to be putting that much into it. 1 to 5 dollars per person is far more reasonable. Anybody who spends 50 dollars a week on a lottery is an idiot. Most likely raised by idiots.
 
lottery is a scam, its just another way to get more tax $$$ from ya and spend it on crap.


no not really though, well atleast here in mn, they put it tward the enviroment, atleast thats what they say

in California they said the money would be an added bonus for the schools. Everyone thought great. Of course what they've done is taken money from the Education fund to spend elsewhere and use the money from the Lottery to replace it. Typical, typical, typical.

yep... scam, lotto money goes to enviroment, state oficails payy less attention to the enviroment...
 
Thats why I support private lottery's. Sure the mob ain't the best guys to owe money to, but I support them over the government.
