Lying Neocons revising history

Taichiliberal

Shaken, not stirred!
When Obama was a candidate, he stated in no uncertain terms that he would make it a priority within the intelligence community to get Bin Laden dead or alive!

Well, he did it. And now the neocons/teabaggers/oathers/birthers are just losing their fucking minds in an effort to tell the American people (and the world) that Obama was merely filling in the blanks that the Shrub put in motion during his 8 year term. My fellow Long Islander, Rep. Peter King (R-NY), the Homeland Security Congressional rooster (chairman) tells an outlandish tale to Bill O'Reilly that has been parroted on every major neocon pundit broadcast, TV and newspaper. Only problem is, King is flat out wrong! Check this out.

Rep. Peter King: We Should Still Use Waterboarding Because That’s How We Captured Bin Laden

http://thinkprogress.org/2011/05/03/peter-king-more-waterboarding/

What's astounding is that AFTER fmr. Secty of State Rumsfeld CONTRADICTS King, King is STILL fronting his BS, using such vague references as "people in the know" and "boots on the ground". :palm:

what is wrong with you? are you saying it is not true that the intelligence started during bush years? obama played a huge role in this, i don't think anyone disputes that, at least i have not seen it. the point is merely that bush gets some credit....obama gets more of the credit though as it was his decision and his decisions over the past year dealing with more specific intel.

why must you constantly whine about imaginary slights?

Hey....the pinhead 'n Chief is on the ball already.....The details of the Osama assassination aren't even known yet and this pinhead is already trying to get his version of history into our minds
No waterboarding was involved,..
No intell from Gitmo detainees....
Besides, those detainees just volunteered to go to Gitmo....they weren't captured during the Bush years...
No assistance from the infrastructure set in place by Bush over the last 8 years....
I guess Khaled Sheik Mohammed didn't know beans about OBL or kept everything to himself during interrogation..

Seems Obama just had a vision of OBL one night, trained a bunch of Navy recruits and helicopter pilots
used his extensive knowledge of military tactics and laid out the mission plans and gave the go ahead...

What a man.......

Why don't you actually READ what is offered in the link before going on a tear? Bottom line: the right wing/neocon punditry is pushing the mantra that Obama merely followed guidelines set up by the Shrub. THAT IS A LIE. The Shrub DISMANTLED the team that was specifically set up to find Bin Laden in the 2005-2006 year. And Rumsfeld has stated that the water boarding stuff WAS NOT instrumental in gathering information that gave us leads to Bin Ladin.

The Shrub FAILED to get Bin Laden, the water boarding DID NOT result in actionable intelligence to get Bin Laden. Obama got in charge, put the house in order, and things got done. Deal with it.

READ, Yurtle, READ!

Another willfully ignorant neocon dumbass who doesn't READ the information presented before blathering away.

Bravo is typical of what the neocon pundity is spewing on the airwaves.....he just can't stand that Obama succeeded as Commander in Chief where the Shrub failed....so Bravo just rants and raves all types of BS that has NOTHING to do with the FACTS as they are unfolding....Bravo makes all types of accusations that has NOTHING to do with the facts that are being presented.

Hey Bravo, don't get pissed at me because Peter King is an asshole and even that bigger POS Rumsfeld states that's he's wrong....go bitch at them. ;)

You're not even a challenge ..... you make an ass of yourself before I can do it for you.....Yurt could kick you ass this time..

Well damn...lets see what THE FACTS are....I'll RED BOLD the pertinent FACTS.....

Well I don’t know if everyone knows this or not, but you mentioned the fact that we obtained information several years ago, vital information about the courier for Obama [sic]. We obtained that information through waterboarding. So for those who say that waterboarding doesn’t work, who say it should be stopped and never used again, we got vital information which directly led us to bin Laden.

O’REILLY: Wow! Let me stop you there. I did not know that and I’m sure most of my audience didn’t know that. Explain how that went down. How did we get that information, where did it come from, was it from Guantanamo Bay?

KING: It came from an overseas prison where Khaled Sheik Mohammed was being interrogated. Waterboarding was used, and it was during the interrogation of Khaled Sheik Mohammed, through waterboarding, that this information was learned.

RUMSFELD REMARK:::

"The United States Department of Defense did not do waterboarding for interrogation purposes to anyone. It is true that some information that came from normal interrogation approaches at Guantanamo did lead to information that was beneficial in this instance. But it was not harsh treatment and it was not waterboarding.

Do we need to recap for TC pinhead?

US DOD..did not waterboard at Gitmo...................
(nothing about overseas interrogation)
Normal interrogation did yield helpful intell....from Gitmo

.King said waterboarding was done overseas.... got vital information which directly led us to bin Laden. (nothing about Gitmo interrogation)

Will the pinhead understand ? Only time will tell....chances are these facts will not be mentioned and other bullshit will be used to confuse the readers at usual.....
most probably with some links to Huffington or KOS or some other far left cite as "proof" of some unrelated issue that he'll claim is pertinent....

Officials say that's not true.

The question of the role such techniques played in this mission arose after the Associated Press reported that it was two key detainees -- Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Abu Faraj al-Libi -- who gave American officials the nickname of a courier who ultimately led U.S. intelligence officials to bin Laden. The two detainees reportedly gave the information up at foreign CIA "black sites," where waterboarding occurred.

However, the AP fleshed out its report later in the day. Citing unnamed former officials, the AP wrote, "Mohammed did not discuss al-Kuwaiti while being subjected to the simulated drowning technique known as waterboarding... He acknowledged knowing him many months later under standard interrogation."

Well....thats a different matter for a different thread....right now the issue is what King said and what Rumsfeld said......and the fact that they do not contradict each other

But "other officials" ? might they be officials from the Obama administration.....???....Holden seemed not to know much of anything when he was questioned by the Senate or whoever it was...

I note....KING: It came from an overseas prison where Khaled Sheik Mohammed was being interrogated.

King doesn't make clear what "IT" is ...exactly what intell he is talking about....

It says "former" officials, not other officials. That suggests the previous administration to me.

And just wtf were "standard interrogation techniques" in Poland while KSM was there? This unnamed officials so called statement is a big fat nothing. The fact of the matter is we can assume that if not while being water-boarded it was after the fact...which with threat of more to come is a HUGE fucking incentive...but, even still, what the fuck were "standard interrogation techniques" in Poland?

Obama went as far as mocking Bush for not getting him.
Sure the looney riechwingers like tin, bravo, sf, dixtard will credit bush.
The other 99% will appreciate Obama's more surgical approach.

Which brings up the argument being tossed around right now. The 'harsh' techniques are not designed to get the actual information, but rather are designed to break down the individual to the point where they are willing to cooperate under normal interrogation methods. To be clear, I do not know enough about the effectiveness etc... to have a defined position on this. Just relaying what the argument is that I have heard.
