Recent headlines from People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch website provides a sampling of what’s going on in deep Christian nationalist religious right circles during the run-up to the November election: “MAGA Prophets Repeat Dangerous Trump Lies, Declare Him ‘Anointed by God’”; “Dominionist ‘Courage Tour’ Heads to Pennsylvania in Bid to Put Unleashed Trump in Power”; “Lance Wallnau Blames the Seduction of Witchcraft for Kamala Harris’ Success”; “E.W. Jackson Declares That God Will Not Allow Kamala Harris to Become President”; “Joel Webbon Says a Kamala Harris Presidency Is the Judgment of God for Our Sins.”
Right-Wing Watch reported that “Trump-supporting ‘prophets’ and ‘apostles’ are functioning as an unofficial arm of the Trump campaign, using their substantial media and social media platforms to repeat Trump’s lies about voter fraud, tell people that God has anointed Trump to be president, and declare that Trump’s opponents are evil and demonic.”
In the midst of dire predictions and name-calling, also comes some significant organizing efforts, including one called The Courage Tour, organized by Trump-promoting dominionists Lance Wallnau and Mario Murillo, and co-sponsored by the MAGA movement organization America First Policy Institute [AFPI]. The Courage Tour is a combination tent revival and political mobilization. It is heading for Pennsylvania – one stop “on its tour of 19 swing counties that could decide the outcome of the presidential election.”
Right Wing Watch pointed out that “Scholar Matthew Taylor, who attended a Wisconsin stop, called the tour ‘the most targeted and tactical voter mobilization effort done by Christian nationalists ever,’ adding that ‘they’re doing it hand in glove in many ways with the Trump campaign and with the apparatus of the Trump campaign through an organization like AFPI.’”
Among the speakers at The Truth and Liberty Coalition’s annual conference at Wommack’s Charis Bible College in Colorado, was far-right pastor and perennial failed political candidate E.W. Jackson. Jackson boldly told the crowd that God would not allow Kamala Harris to become president. Self-proclaimed Christian nationalist and unabashed Trump cultist Lance Wallnau is posting videos in which he warned that Harris represents “the spirit of Jezebel” and declared that she is “the devil’s choice.” In a recent podcase, Texas Christian nationalist pastor Joel Webbon said “Kamala is the judgment because of all the wickedness that we’ve already accrued.”
“I’m also here to declare in the name of Jesus that we are not going to allow a bunch of Marxists and socialists and communists and a bunch of sexual perverts and a bunch of political power-grabbers [to] take our country and lead it in a direction that is not pleasing to Almighty God!” Jackson declared. “America is going to remain one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
