A prominent MAGA influencer has called for "special counsel" to take over the investigation into the files on sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after disappointment over the Trump administration's latest report.
Far-right activist Laura Loomer has repeatedly bashed the Department of Justice and FBI for their July 6 memo which declared Epstein killed himself and had "no client list" or any evidence of blackmail material, contradicting popular conspiracy theories.
Loomer called for there to be "a special counsel" during an interview with Politico's "Playbook," insisting that "an independent investigation of the handling of the Epstein files" would help people "feel like this issue is being investigated."

The influencer went on to bash U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has come under repeated fire from Loomer. She previously slammed Bondi as "very damaging to President Trump's image" and said "she drags the administration down" in a post to X Friday.
"When people voted for President Trump, releasing the Epstein files was something that was promised to the base," Loomer told Politico. "The base is unhappy, and I think that this issue isn't going to go away."
Loomer also appeared to predict that there would be at least one resignation over the handling of the Epstein files. And after some questions over FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino's recent involvement in the administration, Loomer said "it would not shock" her if he resigned soon.
The influencer previously called for Bondi to "resign" and declared that the DOJ was "lying" following the initial publication of the memo.
Anger surrounding the memo's assertions has spread across far-right and MAGA supporters, who had counted on members of the Trump administration to deliver on promises to review the documents. On Saturday, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to try to calm his supporters.
"What's going on with my 'boys' and, in some cases, 'gals?' They're all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We're on one Team, MAGA, and I don't like what's happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and 'selfish people' are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein," Trump wrote.
