Man Fired For His Bigotry

So Christians are of course playing the politics of personal crisis and claiming to be under attack here. But did you know what in a majority of states in this union you can be legally fired simply for being gay?

Think about that before you get all up-ons about this guy's "Freedoms [being] under fire?" as Fox New's lower third so ridiculously claimed.

So it's ok to fire him for this because some places do the same thing to homsexuals?

So she mentioned her "fiancee" 4 times and he decided that he had to tell her that her life and her homosexuality was "bad stuff"?

lol

I'd have laughed at him too. If she were describing sex or something he might have a case. But just condemning her because she has a "fiancee" seems a bit over the top. I like that he insists it was out of love that he did this.

I've been through all kinds of workplace harrassment training so aren't allowed to say shit. Anything you say basically that others find offensive is grounds for you possibly being terminated. Now of course where you work and the individuals involved will ultimately determine what, if any, punishment you might receive but sounds like this woman should have been reprimanded as well if you want to follow the strict harrassment sense.

I've been through harrassment class of various types, and can't see anything this woman did that was over the line.

She talked about her fiance. No big deal. No sex talk, no wedding plans, no details of any kind that I can see.

Perhaps the woman was cautioned to keep things quiet. We don't know.

Then spell it out for me dingleberry.

Retard, my commentary was concerning who's really the subject of discrimination in this case and in America. HINT: It isn't Christians. Bigoted idiots like this guy are the ones responsible for keeping it legal to fire homosexuals for being gay, but turn around and cry and scream when they think someone's discriminating against them for being bigoted against gays.

I'm not saying anything about whether it was right or wrong to fire the guy. What I'm upset about is the fact that he's pretending to be the subject of discrimination when he and people like him (white Christian men) try to paint themselves retardedly as the victims of injustice.

It'd be laughable if it wasn't so tragic and such a real problem for so many millions of people in this country.

So 'white' (a term I hate to use) Christian men cannot be discriminated against, just everyone else?

I found more info on this. According to another site, it wasn't just "Homosexuality is bad stuff" that he said.

"And the retailer he worked for says he was fired because he used the word "deviant" to describe homosexuals, and added that he "hates" gay people."

from: http://rawstory.com/2009/11/media-firing-gay-marriage/

When you use the word "deviant" when talking with the person you hate and the HR executive, you can expect to be fired. Its not an outrageous step.

Had he discussed it with the woman and the HR people in a more civil way, he might have rectified it.

My understanding under the strictest interpretation of the existing laws is even something like that can be considered harrassment. Again, I can't imagine many places punishing anyone over it but you never know in some corporate cultures.

I'm happy I've worked in commercial real estate where we it sure as hell isn't as strict.

This is clearly way over your head.

Someone else want to have a discussion?

Its not over his head, and I don't think you can toss away his concern so readily. Maybe being a little less condescending would help make your point.

Oh no good sir, I get it. You want to paint it as the real issue is all the 'real' discrimination is against gays, or Muslims, or something else, and that this mans complaint is a non issue. I understand what you intend to say fully. What I don't understand is why you think it is a non issue, even if compared to other groups that are also discriminated against. Stand against all or stand against none.

You're incapable of seeing the larger picture. Evangelical right wingers ALWAYS attempt to play up the ridiculous notion that Christians are under attack from somewhere. They're always the victims. It's fucking ridiculous given the fact that they are single handedly responsible for just about all of the real discrimination that happens in this country.

Who was against interracial marriage? Who is against gay marriage? Who was against integration? Voting rights for blacks? Who's against immigration?

You, sir, are a retard. Move along.

No, it's you that cannot see the larger picture. As I said before, if you stand against one form of discrimination, you must stand against all. It's all the same to me, whether it happens at a larger level or not.

Look, if you really don't want to discuss the issue, then don't bring it up on these forums.

If you do want to discuss it, then questions raised should not be dismissed by ridiculous personal attacks.

I have read what CaptBilly has said in the multitude of gay marriage threads on these forums. He is not a gay basher. But he is also not one to just have a grand old time slamming all christians just because of the actions of a minority in that group.

You have defended muslims when people tried to brand them all as evil based on the actions of a few. And yet you do the same thing to christians when you post this sort of bullshit.

If what you wanted was a liberal's dream of everyone joining you and saying "Oh those nasty christians are getting what they deserved", then you are on the wrong forums. And you should know it by now.

i agree, I'd have laughed too. What he said was in bad taste. He did have the right to say it. Now if he 'caught wind' of her relationship and did the same thing, can him. Rumors spread by 'friends' and repeated as facts by others, no go. If she brought it up, then she was inviting comment.
