MASJ Maternity leave rulling

last time i checked, the birth rate for the u s of a middle class was negative

the only reason the u s of a birth rate is not negative is poor immigrants

Maybe so, but I don't have anymore money for them. It would be different if most of them were educated and could pay their own way, but they're not for the most part, and they don't.

because it's just plain bad business to eliminate about 40% of your market on human resources cause they have a false dualism is forced upon them. Stay at home to raise baby or have a career.

They would lose out on a lot of extraordinarily talented and productive workers by being so short sighted. It's talent which runs todays modern economy and your an idiot of a business man if you deny your self top notch talent because you believe in an outmoded paradigm.

We all have choices. If you want to work, and you're a lady, don't have baby's.

My wife wanted a baby, and she took off for over a year without pay, and that was her (our) choice.

They do that all ready and when they do hire them they pay them 2/3rd what they would pay a man on average to do the same job.

Well maybe we can create higher taxes, and more regulations, making it harder on us all to live. Maybe that's the answer to the problem.

I blame socialist policies for many of the problems we have. And what's funny is, is that the socialists blame capitalism. The worse they make it, the worse it gets. The worse it gets the worse they make it. Ever learning but never putting 2 plus 2 together.

I took off 14 years to care for my kids. Not everyone is able to, but we make the choices we make.

I could have been paid for 3 mo and returned. I could have stayed out a year and returned to my position. My employer wanted me back, I actually returned for 2 months when my second child was 6 mo. old. Didn't work for me or my baby. Yes, my employer kept in contact with me for nearly 5 years, trying to get me to return. (AT&T)

When I divorced there were certainly laments on my part about being out of work force so long, but again, my choice.

Nobody is asking for 14 years of paid leave to raise children.

There's nothing controversial about 6 or 12 months of legally mandated paid maternity leave, in the civilized world. Every developed country does it except us, and it doesn't appear to be rocket science. They've figured out how to do it without companies going belly up and collapsing. The only place this concept appears controversial is in the Rush Limbaugh wing of the american conservative faction.

We require our elected representatives to pass mandates all the time, when it's judged in the best interest of the nation. We mandate that lead can't be in paint. You thought it was a good idea to mandate that we bomb and invade a country that didn't threaten us. I think the welfare of small children merits a national mandate, or national standard for a modest amount of mandatory paid leave. It won't destroy us as a nation, or turn us into commies.

The government should have no power to force private employers to create any kinds of bene packages! A person can choose to try and work for whetever company they desire. This also means it is their responsibility to decide if they like what a company offers for benefits.

I am sick of the back door unionizing of the private sector by the feds! It's why we are so fucking broke; why comapnies are not hiring; and why costs for health insurance continue to rise. It is also why the cost of living exceeds pay raises! Leave our companies alone; if we want a union job we will go look for one!

You jump in on my personal example, while missing the point. If one is a valued employee, the employer will find a place. If valued enough and knows you'll return or thinks you'll return, they'll offer some paid time.

Then again, you may not be worth it in their opinion. But if you are, their competitors will snap you up.

In any case, should be up to employer.
