Mathematical Proof that Dixie was Wrong!

As we all know, in the famous 1/3rd thread, dixie claimed that eventually infinite decimals will break down and would have to be taken into account. In one of his many threads, dixie statated the following:

"you can't define equal thirds other than assuming them to be equal at some point along infinity. In other words, at some point before you reach infinity, that extra remainder is factored into one of the thirds and is inconsequential to your calculation."

However, with a simple mathematics, we can see that infinity can be taken into account!

Ladies and gentlemen, 0.999 = 1!

a = 0.999…
10a = 9.999…
10a - a = 9.999… - 0.999…
9a = 9
a = 1!!!!

Simple mathematics proving that extended decimals can be accounted for! The magic of science everybody, the magic of science . . .

p.s. i stole this from somewhere else.

no but 1/3 is actually .333333333333333333333333 so like . . .

you know... 3 x .33333333333333333333333333333333 is HARD

No. 1/3rd is actually 1/3rd. There's no necessity to convert it into a decimal form, like Dixie thought had to be done before a number meant anything.

Dixie was asserting that because there is no decimal equivalent of 1/3, therefore, there cannot be 3 equal parts of one. That is Non Sequitur. There CAN be three equal parts of one, fractionally, there cannot be three equal parts of one, expressed as decimals.

Likewise, despite the fact that Dixie's IQ cannot be equally split into three whole number portions of 100, if you add up the portions, 100 is what you will get.

10a - a = 9.999… - 0.999…

That would make 10a 9.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000...1a, not 9a.
