Poor Congressman Matt Gaetz — proud “Florida man” who carried with pride his weird, boyish rube rap, now betrayed and facing a serious Department of Justice investigation into sex trafficking a minor.

From his time as a Panhandle state representative to the last years as a goofy but powerful 30-something-year-old working the halls of Congress, Gaetz made quite a name for himself by making the most out of every opportunity to take the GOP’s agenda viral.

He's lucky he's going to a Federal prison, not a Florida State pen. They don't like pedos in the State prisons.

Gaetz had no chance. He had nothing to offer Trump. Trump is a transactional person. Nothing in the deal for him, no deal.

There is at least one underage boy involved with Gaetz, and probably more. Gaetz moved Nestor Galban into his house when he was only 12 years old. Gaetz describes Galban as a "local student", but where I come from we do not move random "local students" into our houses.

I am sure that now 19 year old Galban has recently gotten a nice new car from someone.

Rule 12b is dead. It calls for "news articles or a mature discussion involving stats, how it effects people etc", but about a fifth of Alt Right posts are just calling everyone they disagree with a pedophile.

One of the fun things about it all is that while in Federal prison, Florida has decades to make arrangements for him to go to Florida prison.

Greenberg’s attorney, Fritz Scheller, announced during the hearing that the former Seminole County Tax Collector would likely take a plea sometime before the trial, but added that the deal has not yet been finalized.

AFAIK, Matt only liked underage women. Not sure about Greenberg. If Greenberg gets his plea deal, We, the People will know all the dirty little secrets of the GOP's finest example of Trumpism.

I suspect it's true. If there is any debate then it will probably be "Is there enough evidence for a criminal conviction or only enough for a civil judgement?"

Never a good idea when one is in their late 30s to pursue teenage girls and have sex with high school seniors.

You can see why Gaetz looked up to Trump as a soul mate.

Agreed on pedophiles and even well over 30 year olds pursuing college age girls. Gaetz puts a new face on the old maxim "Power corrupts."

No doubt Trump taught Gaetz everything he knows since Trump was a well known pedophile in the 1990s.

What can end up happening is that Gaetz spends 20 years in federal prison, and is then released to spend an additional 15 years in a state prison. Double jeopardy does not apply between state and federal levels. Gaetz can be convicted twice for the same set of crimes. DeSantis can continue to protect him from state level prosecution, but only for so long.

And do not forget that protecting Gaetz is going to cost DeSantis.
