Message board poster threatens to kill the President, is arrested

In a later hearing before the committee on homeland security, after people started believing that claim from the book (that he had 400% more threats than Bush), the Director of the Secret Service flat said that it was untrue, and that he received no more numerous claims than the last two Presidents did.

So, basically, the man who would know simply told the Congresswoman with the concern over this that it was based on an exaggeration that he was astounded by and couldn't understand why people were believing...

He never said he was astounded. He said he's not sure where the number came from and that it wasn't true. He professed no "astonishment". Nice wordplay though Damo!

He further said he would go into more details behind closed doors, and that was the last we ever heard about it publically.

The SS never likes to discuss threats, and are very careful about inciting copycats. Running around screaming about a 400% increase in threats would be nearly criminally irresponsible.

But we won't know the truth until long after Obama is out of office, or...if an actual attempt is made on his life and he is wounded. I imagine some shit will come flooding out then. Hopefully we won't find out.

But nothing has been put to rest and no one is "astonished". :)

pmp you must be retarded then. This was watermarks ultimate secret, would never have mentioned it. Maybe the ss visiting damo was mentioned, but I doubt it.

Actually, it came from video and tone. But I remember that we can't ever suggest we might see or hear a tone of voice when somebody speaks...

Yes, he did. Mostly because the budget of the Secret Service in its protection capacity is classified.

As would dismissing a danger.

Right... it is always easier to believe what you want than what is in evidence. I'm good with that. At this point it becomes like arguing with somebody about "the missing dollar" in that silly misapplied math hotel riddle...

OBama receives 400% more death threats than did Bush.

I would say that is a few more...

U.S. Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan dismissed published reports that the level of death threats against President Obama are four times greater than typical threat levels against recent presidents — claiming the current volume of threats is comparable to that under George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

"It's not [a] 400 percent [increase]," Sullivan said during a heated exchange with Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.), who suggested the service needed additional agents to protect the first African-American president.

"I'm not sure where that number comes from," he said, adding that the number of threats against Obama "are the same level as it has been [against] the last two presidents."

Sullivan said he would get more specific in a closed-door session with members of the Homeland Security Committee.
