Sam Nunberg, former political advisor to Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, told MSNBC on Wednesday that the president and his allies had been “outplayed” by his former fixer Michael Cohen, who delivers public testimony to Congress today about the president’s many crimes and history of lawbreaking.

“Michael outplayed them. The reason being is all of the Trump World, they were telling me ‘we can’t wait for Michael to testify, this is going to be a way that we’re going to destroy the Mueller investigation because he is not credible,'” Nunberg said.

“Michael has documented everything in there factually about Donald Trump,” he continued. “He has played that game, and he has handled the press very well. Michael is very smart at doing what he just did. That’s why Donald Trump employed him all those years.”
