I couldn't open that, but I heard he wouldn't get banned because it wasn't during competition.

just a picture of him smoking a bong. I hope he doesn't get banned. I still cannot believe we treat pot differently then booze in this day in age and with all the facts.

thank the republican Ghestapo for the continued prohibition.
Barney Frank has a bill to decriminalize for Adult recreational use.

for the whole country? we just got that in our state however the cops are being pricks about it and still jacking people claiming ignorance to the law.

Yes HR 5843 & 5844
for the whole country, Ron Paul is actually a sponser and there are several other key congressman.
Problem is that while 75% of the country supports it, congress won't pass what they can't get huge payoffs for and they still hang on to the fear of decades ago that republicans put on them.

No, I think it is great. I'd have made it longer.

Why? I don't understand the logic. Is there some performance gain relavent to the olympics? Why do people take running around and swimming as so important they must declare all participants meet strict standards of conduct? WTF is that? You need to get a life. it's athletics, not rocket science.

Not directed at you, leaning right, just in general

I think it's only included as there are some sports where it could be used as a relaxant. That's how they try to justify it anyway.

What that has to do with swimming is beyond me.

Its great for menial tasks , makes them far more interesting.

I sure could see it to enhance a run or massive pool laps.

It would most definitely not enhance your pool laps. Nor does it enhance other menial tasks such as driving, writing, learning. It definitely enhances eating.

While it may make them "less boring" it will not make you better at swimming. Although I fail to see how swimming is menial. It is another form of meditation and very relaxing of its own merit.

Michael Phelps, Hypocrisy, and American Drug Policy

excerpt ..

A study released [in April, 2008] reported that between 1998 and 2007, the police arrested 374,900 people whose most serious crime was the lowest-level misdemeanor marijuana offense.

That is more than eight times the number of arrests on those same charges between 1988 and 1997, when 45,300 people were picked up for having a small amount of pot...

...Nearly everyone involved in this wave of marijuana arrests is male: 90 percent were men, although national studies show that men and women use pot in roughly equal rates. And 83 percent of those charged in these cases were black or Latino, according to the study. Blacks accounted for 52 percent of the arrests, twice their share of the city's population. Whites, who are about 35 percent of the population, were only 15 percent of those charged -- even though federal surveys show that whites are more likely than blacks or Latinos to use pot.

Among the pretty large population of white people who have used pot and not been arrested for it is Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. Asked during the 2001 campaign by New York magazine if he had ever smoked it, Mr. Bloomberg replied: "You bet I did. And I enjoyed it." After he was elected and his remarks were used in advertisements by marijuana legalization advocates, Mr. Bloomberg said his administration would vigorously enforce the laws.

---

The report includes recent data that indicates that African Americans make up 15 percent of the country's drug users, yet they make up 37 percent of those arrested for drug violations, 59 percent of those convicted, and 74 percent of those sentenced to prison for a drug offense. More than 80 percent of the defendants sentenced for crack offenses are African American, despite the fact that more than 66 percent of crack users are white or Hispanic.

The good news for Phelps is that he isn't black.

Claiming that all is well because Obama is the president is far from the truth.

Weren't they talking about taking away a snowboarder's medal a few years ago because of pot?

I can see where it would help in a sport like that. Swimming, I'm not so sure. Regardless, you would have to smoke just prior to a meet; it's not a drug like a steroid where use that is non-related to an event would help.

I didn't know about this. Well, everyone just call your congressperson and get on their ass about this. And tell all your friends to do the same.

Unless you are in an Oreo eating contest, Pot is not going to enhance your performance.

It can enhance sexual desire though. Isn't it better than popping viagra? Or Xanax, if you are using it to relax? Or, painkillers if you are using it for any kind of pain. It has a lot of good purposes, and in a country where sleeping pills are sold over the counter, and every housewife in America is taking Tyenol PM, this whole issue is retarded!
