Russian President Vladimir Putin faces being forced out of power over military failures or the economy, according to a former commander who led the pro-Russian 2014 separatist uprising in Ukraine. In a rant to his supporters on YouTube, Igor Girkin, a former FSB colonel who led the pro-Russian rebellion in Donetsk, said: "All it will take is an outbreak of inflation or a few more military defeats to finish him off. You could say that the battle for the initiative that I have been talking about since June has been won completely by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. I am 99 percent, perhaps 100 percent, confident in our defeat." He went on to further criticise the Kremlin, calling its invasion doomed to failure unless it orders a full mobilisation. Mr Girkin gained notoriety after being accused of killing 298 civilians when a Russian missile shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in July 2014.

None of us really have the facts to do our own analysis of the situation in Ukraine, ... making us dependent on "expert" opinion. As far as I know, Putin has deployed 2800 tanks and has 10,000 in reserve.

The Winter is coming and battlefield conditions are going to completely change. Who will the advantage go to? ... I suspect it will be advantage, Russia.

What happened years ago is irrelevant.

The full strength and force of Russia's armed forces were not brought to bear on Ukraine until February 24, 2022.

As my post proved, there were tons of posters here who thought Putin would make quick work of the Ukrainian armed forces.

Putin himself openly bragged some years ago that he could conquer Kyiv in two weeks if he wanted to. The Kremlin actually thought they would be greeted as liberators.
