during the legislative session, the lobby for open carry was making alot of headway. This legislation was vehemently opposed by most law enforcement. Even to the extent of one Orange county sheriffs officer Capt. Mike Fewless, who proceeded to hand out photos of concealed license holders who either are, were, or resembled members of motorcycle gang members. But there's an oops involved. Florida state law expressly prohibits the release of license holder information EXCEPT in the conduct of an investigation.

Despite the fact that violating officers may be prosecuted and disciplined, the state attorney's office is dropping the case because it cannot prove Fewless or his officers accessed the photos solely for the purpose of lobbying.

"It is my belief that no criminal act was committed by any member of the Orange County Sheriff's Office," state attorney's office investigator Roger Floyd said.
