Most WV counties have lost population

Many factors are at play for the state’s overall population decline. This includes the nation’s highest death rate, one of the nation’s lowest birth rates and an overall decline in net migration. Approximately 4,500 more West Virginians died than were born in 2017, according to census estimates.

West Virginia’s population loss would likely continue for the next 20 years, according to projections from the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.

Reduced immigration, declining birth rates and an aging baby-boom generation will eventually reflect the nation’s median age. More than half the country’s population will be in their 40s and older by 2030, according to projections. However, a quarter of West Virginia’s population is projected to be 65 and older from 2030 onward.

Ever been to West Virginia?

Leads the nation in citizens on disability, close to nine percent of the total population, a common theme with many Red States, you know, those States that yell they hate socialism

Pandemic Shutdown Is Speeding Up The Collapse Of Coal

Coal has been struggling for many years. Now there's a drop in demand because of the economic shutdown (as well as warmer weather), but coal is being pummeled more than other sources of energy.

Preston says that right now, coal is more expensive than natural gas, wind or solar in many parts of the country. So when demand slows, coal plants are the first to shut down.

In fact, over three days earlier this month, wind and solar actually produced more electricity than coal in the U.S., the first time that has happened, according to a new research note from the Rhodium Group.

Rhodium found that coal accounted for just 16.4% of the U.S. electric power from mid-March to mid-April, compared with 22.5% for a similar period last year.

West Virginia has had Democratic Governors for 18 of the past 23 years. Pretty interesting for a 'red' state.

Shrink your signature picture, it's taking up an entire screen.

West Virginia hasn't voted Democratic yet in the 21st Century (https://www.270towin.com/states/West_Virginia), I think that pretty much classifies them as a Red State, and, although I have only been there twice, football games, I feel confident saying that it ain't "almost heaven"

So how a state votes for its Governor, state legislature etc. is irrelevant? Because at the end of the day the Governor, state legislature and local leadership have more control over the state than the President does.

Other than Manchin, there is only one other State level position held by a Democrat, and given the Presidential vote in the last four elections, I feel pretty confident labeling it as a Red State

You mean other than Democrats controlling the Governorship for 18 of the last 23 years?

It can still be a red state but pretty funny a red state that supposedly hates socialism like you claim does that.
