MSNBC airs audio of McCarthy saying he considered asking Trump to resign

Audio released on Thursday confirms that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said he was considering asking former President Trump to resign in the wake of the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol, according to a recording aired on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” and shared by reporters from The New York Times.

In the audio clip, which is also now included in the Times’ report on the matter, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) asks the House GOP leader if he was hearing that Trump might resign or had any reason to believe it could happen.

Referring to the likelihood that Congress would impeach Trump, McCarthy says, “The only discussion I would have with him is that I think this will pass, and it would be my recommendation you should resign. I mean, that would be my take but I don’t think he would take it. But I don’t know.”

He says it did not happen, therefore it did not. He is a Repub. What you say becomes the truth and you are unfair to play the tapes.

This has got the be the biggest nothing burger on this site in years. MSNBC reports that McCarthy thought about saying something to Trump about something. How much less irrelevant can something get?

So what?
 
McCarthy showed he knew the danger Trump was and that he organized an insurrection. Then he dropped to his knees when he faced Trump. He shows he will sell his values and ignore facts if it can make him speaker. McCarthy is a valueless politician who is in it for his own advantage and his ego. He is what's wrong in American politics.
 
They are pretending its not important that the House Majority Leader claims he advised the President to resign.
 
Some of us do expect some consistency and honesty in our politicians. McCarthy shows neither. He was correct about Trump after the insurrection. But he went to see him and changed 180 degrees.Now Trump was guilty of nothing and the insurrection did not happen. When Trump crashes and burns the rightys on board will not have parachutes.
