Music & Film - protecting product and copyrights

Movie industry insiders go to greater lengths to protect their copyrights and film product and they have greater resources to protect their work. The music industry isn't as organized and protected as the movie industry, as many artists are underground and without much corporate support. There's a lot more open chances for musicians to lose profit because of internet sharing and other acts of communism. Few top musicians make more than top actors or film makers but also on a whole musicians are a much poorer lot.

In 2019 RIAA said that music industry losses are at around $12.5 billion a year because of internet sharing. That same number was stated in 2007. So, over 11 years the losses for musicians have been fairly level and even.

In 2018 tvtechnology.com said the U.S. economy lost $20 billion for the movie industry because of internet sharing.

The winner of losing appears to be the movie industry with $7.5 billion of more reported losses than the music industry due to internet sharing. And although the movie industry has more reported loss I would say that the music industry is more greatly affected than the movie industry based on what I'd seen.

Truth is that's gotta be shitty to be an artist that barely breaks even although they sell a platinum record because so many people are downloading their music for free.
