The reason the EU, except for France, doesn't have nukes is due to the promise of a US nuclear umbrella. With the Orange Jesus and his MAGAts becoming isolationist and leaving Europe to Putin, the EU nations will have incentive to arm themselves with tactical nukes at a minimum. Both France and the UK, along with Israel, have the tech to share since they all have a good reason to unite.
It's been predicted by more than a few that a new arms race will be the result of the US leaving NATO and siding up with Putin and China.

Good point. I think Britain and France also imply nuclear protection extends to Germany, Italy, Belgium, etc. The question is whether Trump will continue American policy to extend our nuclear umbrella to Japan and South Korea.
Just like NATO had a hierarchy with the USA at the top, so would any future European alliance have a hierarchy. Luxembourg, Norway, and Portugal just aren't going to have the same influence as UK, Germany, and France. And Germany ultimately won't have the same deterrent capability as the UK. France is sometimes viewed as too independent minded and unstable. What are they on, the Fifth Republic now? lol

Australia has a population less than Texas. America consumes more than any other country in the world it will be hard to replace that market.
