My Negro: is this racist?

My long time friend whom I have not seen in many years decided to visit the Islands. Anyway, he used to always have this saying among our little group, it was and apparently still is: what's up my negro.

Is he a racist?

Personally, i'd just ask him for his views on other races and draw a conclusion from his answer.

Depends. I don't care for people who can't just say hi or ask how you are doing. Must be because I believe in old fashioned but sincere politeness.
"what's up my negro" is not my cup of tea, nor is "hi bitches" which some, esp gay men, seem to think it cool or whatever.

If the Negro he's referring to is actually his then no it's not racist.
