Leaders of the Washington National Cathedral have joined the voices denouncing President Donald Trump for attacking Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and labeling his majority-black district a “rodent infested mess.”

The Episcopal cathedral released a statement on Tuesday from Revs. Mariann Edgar Budde, Randolph Marshall Hollerith and Kelly Brown Douglas calling Trump’s comments “dangerous” and “more than a ‘dog-whistle.’”

It is irrelevant whether Cumming's district is "majority black" or not... All that is relevant is whether or not it is a "rodent infested mess". And guess what, it IS... There was nothing about race mentioned there, except for the liberals who are setting up a racist model in order to project it onto the President and thus attack him for. THAT is racist. THAT is where the racism is... The LIBERALS doing that are the racists... THEY need to stop obsessing over race and forcing every single statement someone makes to be about race...

Racism is the improper extension of a property [ie, skin color] of an item [a person] of a class [people] across other items [persons] within the same class [people] or across the class [people] itself.

Castigating a minority is not racism.

Trump is not making a point about the cities.

Yes, he is. His tweet was directly about Baltimore and the condition that it is in. He also mentioned that Cummings has been a representative of that district for a very long time, yet Baltimore's condition hasn't improved. Nothing racist about any of that.

Sure, one would be hard pressed to find a city without a single rat in it, but not all cities have rat problems, and certain cities have far worse rat problems than other cities. Baltimore is one of those cities.

Bringing light to the condition of Baltimore is not "singling out minority leaders". Bringing light to the man who has represented the district for a very long time (yet no improvement has been made under his tenure) is not "singling out minority leaders". None of that is racism.

Trump does not run the City of Baltimore, nor does he represent it at a local level. Same goes for any other urban area. Trump, rather, oversees the Executive Branch of the federal government. Why do you expect the federal government to take care of you? Urban rat problems are under the purview of city governments, not the federal government. Not all cities are experiencing the same degree of rat problems; each city needs to determine what works best for them; they need to take on the issue individually.
