New Bank Regs: I'm torn

banks are now looking to end free checking because they won't be able to make money from overdrafts. i'm torn, because i had an overdraft month once when a check was 1 day late, and the bank of america (fuckers will never bank with again) overdrafted the largest debit or check first, despite that one being last in time and then charged us 10 over draft fees and some of the overdrafts were like $2 charges......made days before that one check

and that was with automatic deposit...they didn't automatically deposit until the following business day and our automatic depositer got in allegedly late...had they followed regular procedure, the largest would have been taken out later, as is the usual and there would have been no overdraft....

$350 bucks in over drafts...i went to the bank, immediately demanded the branch manager and he basically told me to fuck myself, despite being a 5 year customer. i told him i would contact regional. i contacted regional, they said the same thing. i withdrew all my funds and told them to fuck themselves.

now...the banks are whining that they can't make HUGE profits off this bullshit:

The nation's largest bank, as measured by assets, said largely because of recent changes to its overdraft policy, it will forgo $600 million in revenue this year.

since they are losing this hustle, they are now going to:

Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC - News) and other banks are preparing new fees on basic banking services as they try to replace revenue lost to regulatory rules, in a push that is expected to spell an end to free checking accounts for many Americans

Free checking accounts, which have been widely available for more than a decade, have been a boon to middle-class consumers and attracted low-income customers to the banking system for the first time.

i'm torn because that is their right. i don't have to bank with them. and maybe the market will push some banks to still give free checking. but to change free checking because they can't wrongfully profit is absurd.
