I see 3D printing as the next huge jump in manufacturing.

There was an article about how they're using it to create exact duplicates of specific damaged organs, where the Dr. can go in and see exactly what needs to be done in advance.

We could also use it to help build replacement parts or even structures, in outer space.

This has to potential to move mankind along, even better then the invention of the wheel.
 
Does this mean we could help people that lie under their bed curled up in the fetal position sucking their thumb?
