New Iraq crisis: Parent abandoning kids

Do you ever get desensitized to the chaos, violence, and sheer inhumanity caused by Bush's war? Sometimes, I do. Its one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history, but pundits are reduced to crowing about how "the surge is working".
 
It's impossible to comprehend the level of human suffering at this point.

But, as his fans say....we just had to do SOMETHING after 9/11....
 
How can ANYONE that sees that 70% of the homeless population 4 years after mission accomplished are kids and still say this is a success?
 
OK---There something fishy about that article. I just can concieve any parent that is sane to abandon their own children they love in any circumsatance. We certainly can't understand it in our culture--and we would imprision the parents if they did so. We are humans though, from many different cultures--that simply are not as people friendly as our culture. Most animals have more parental drive than some of us. Does this article serve eveidence that this Muslem culture is one of the most savage human cultures on planet earth? That's how I read it. I pray for the innocent--but the savages can go to hell. If we leave now--I feel the innocent will become brutalized by the savages, and most will be dead in one month. Humans are the most savage animals on the planet---when they have power. You would not leave your children---would you?

Uhm, well, let's see.

How many children are given up to adoption each year? And how many -- in a few Asian and African nations that probably don't need enumeration -- are sold to people who will do . . . whatever it is that people who buy children do?

Human beings are very complex. People will "abandon" their children under a broad spectrum of circumstances.

We are not in a position to judge the nuance and complexity in every situation. None of us have certainly lived in the midst of a civil war, where the only law of survival is the law of the jungle. Where bound and tortured bodies show up on your doorstep, or in your street on a regular basis. Where militiamen break into your house in the middle of the night, and cart off your wife, husband, or son. Where fear of being blown up, mortared, or kidnapped pervades every waking hour of your life.

We can't possibly imagine what that is like, or what it does to break down the rational and sane part of the human mind.
