Following are excerpts from an interview with Sunni scholar Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi, which aired on Al-Nahar TV on January 26, 2012:

Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi: I think [the shari'a] should be implemented gradually. This is a law of the shari’a and a law of nature.


We should do things gradually. We should prepare the people, teach them. People have to learn. We have to make an effort to teach people the truth about Islam.


People do not understand the shari’a properly. We have to teach people the laws of the shari’a and explain them, before anything else. I think that in the first five years, there should be no chopping off of hands. This period should be dedicated to teaching things. A transitional phase… This should be a period in which we teach people the true laws of the shari’a.

When we find food for all the hungry, schools for all the pupils, hospitals for all the sick, homes for all those who want them, wives for all the bachelors – then we can discuss the punishment for theft.

Obama is the direct cause of this shit....remember how he and US liberals supported the uprising, .... the "revolution" against Mubarak....

How US organized labor praised the uprising as "freeing Egypt from a brutal dictator"........

Funny how that didn't support the take down of Saddam who actually was responsible for killing hundreds of thousands of his own citizens.....

He hasn't provided a link and I tried to search for this in vain. I found this though, apparently even the Saudis hate his guts.

Some of al-Qaradawi's views have been controversial in the West, and he was refused an entry visa to the United Kingdom in 2008.[SUP][10][/SUP] In 2004, 2,500 Muslim academics from Saudi Arabia, Iraq and from the Palestinian territories condemned Qaradawi, and accused him of giving "Islam a bad name."[SUP][11][/SUP][SUP][12][/SUP]

Guys, not our country, let them do whatever they want to do, it's their country. Personally I think you chop off a thiefs hands his recidivism rate is gonna be non existant compared to the US.

Obama installed and supported a dictator for 40 years who frequently oppressed his people and caused them to disdain his rule?
 
They regularly cut off peoples hands in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. During the first Gulf War, during Operation Desert Shield I watched as several thieves got their hands chopped off. This was back in 1991, can't blame that on Obama.

After watching true "shari'a" blow up Buddha statues in Afghanistan, I wonder how long the Sphinx has.

No, you can only "blame" him for helping to create new nations where they cut off hands. Bush too. I am sure that it won't be long before Iraq is happily hacking off limbs too.

What I want to know is how people see democratic elections, and automaticaly assume that within the same week (if not day) that they'll build their first wallstreet, and have their own Ronald Reagan or Bill Clinton or whomever, even though this is their first fucking attempt at democracy in at least 3 generations. We still haven't perfecte democracy over 2 centuries after we started it. Fuck it took us nearly 150 years for universal enfranchiment. And its not like that's the only flaw we have. But for some reason people like to assume that democracy IMMEDIATELY equals freedom and equality and prosparity. It doesn't. That takes GENERATIONS of work.
