Every day the mayor of New York City and governor of New York state do a broadcast to update the citizenry of the progress against Covid-19, and proposals as to what will be done to help New York recover socially and economically. A lot of fireside chat blathering, etc., etc

Okay, when I hear these two words from either NYC mayor #DeBlasio or NYC governor #AndrewCuomo, then I'll know they're serious about saving New York jobs. The two words; TRANSACTION TAX!

Newsflash for ya.....New York has gotten stiffed by GOP gov't before, and it cost them in subsequent elections.....bastards have no problem with Wall St., but go out of their way to screw the very support people who make it all happen. My problem with the Mayor and the Governor is that they don't have the guts to enact a tax that would NOT "soak the rich" or screw the middle class, and would put much needed cash into the local gov't coffers. Maybe they don't want to piss off potential rich contributors to any future campaigns?

Dump got sweetheart deals here when Koch was mayor in NYC....but he could care less now that Cuomo and DeBlasio dared to criticize him. Pathetic.

Appears "anything but the truth" is another gated village person who thinks NY is a failure, it has the second largest GDP in the country, is one of the leading intellectual, recreational, and cultural centers of the nation, and without it and its neighboring States the US would look like Albania.

NY has the highest number of Covid deaths. NY has the highest number of Covid infections. NY has the second highest tax rate in the Union. NY has one of the highest poverty rates in the US.

NY has the second highest homeless numbers in the Union, behind Commiefornia. New York has the thrid highest cost of living in the nation behind Washington DC and Hawaii. All blue States.

You should visit Jamaica Queens and tell us how cultural it is.

Always entertaining

NYC, where the virus has accumulated high numbers, also leads the nation in population density, now lets see, where do you think a virus which spreads by personal contact would be the biggest problem, NYC or Wyoming?

Wrong on poverty rates (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_poverty_rate), also ranks high in medium personal income levels (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_income), and has the second highest GDP in the nation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_GDP)

DC isn't a State, and of course it has a high cost of living, people want to live there, same reason many Red States probably have low costs of living, who wants to live in mediocrity.

NY has always been and still is the cultural center of the United States (https://theculturetrip.com/north-america/usa/articles/12-best-us-cities-for-culture/), and yes I have been to Jamaica, Queens a number of times, transferring over from the Subway to the LRR to Elmont

And to return to the original point, without those Blue States Trumpkins love to hate the USA would look like Albania, good luck with a economic recovery without those Blue State

New York's gentrifying all over, much of Brooklyn used to be no go zones, now most of it's hip.

Brooklyn's better now than Manhattan was in the 1970's.

Times Square used to be crime ridden dive, now it's super safe, and a tourist attraction.

They are starting to gentrify parts of the Bronx now too.

Same with Beacon, NY it used to be a dive, with gangsters, and even race riots, now it's hip too.

Probably half of New York's homeless aren't even from New York, but are transient migrants from other states & other nations.

Maybe we should cut off all those Benefits, the Southern moochers take from New York & similar states.

LOL. When I left they lost two well-educated "breeders". Now we are four, actually six if you count my son's wife and daughters BF- all earning well and paying a lot less in taxes.
