For those not familiar with sideshows they spur of the moments events in residential neighborhoods where people start doing donoughts in the middle of the street car after car. The big problem (among many) is that they are usually attended by people drunk and high on drugs and many are gang members and thus violence is a regular occurance. Many rappers have rapped about sideshows and there are many youtube videos available to watch sideshows.

Sideshows are a major problem in Oakland. Here's the Oakland's mayor comment in today's paper about sideshows...

"We need to think creatively about how we solve this problem," Dellums said last week after new Police Chief Anthony Batts was sworn in at City Hall. "Is it possible to take the skill that's involved and take it off the streets and apply safety equipment, put it in a place where it is not endangering the participants and it's not endangering people who are watching. I cannot say to you at this particular moment whether or not that can happen."

I mean WTF? The comments section of the article is great. Another example of why Oakland never improves as a City. Way to go Mayor Dellums.

Dellums has quite a history. Get him out of there.

Ron Dellums is the greatest man in America. I wish every city were governed by Ron Dellums.

The people in the comments section need to be found and brought to justice for fostering counterrevolutionary activity.
