Food stamp list soars past 35 million: USDA

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - More than 35 million Americans received food stamps in June, up 22 percent from June 2008 and a new record as the country continued to grapple with the worst recession since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

The food stamp program, which helps cover the cost of groceries for one in nine Americans, has grown in step with the U.S. unemployment rate which stood at 9.4 percent in July.

nope, that's why our children are going to be paying more on interest on the national debt than we've been paying for the total budget.....if we've fixed the recession already, let's cancel the remaining $650 billion of the stimulus package that hasn't been spent NOW!

... the reason Republicans want to cancel the rest of the stimulus is because they see it's working and they're terrified Obama will get credit for cleaning up their mess - which he's doing, and doing well.

they'll hang to anything because the Hugos polls numbers are sliding so fast they can't figure out how "the people" could be turning on the Dear Leader..:)

The people are turning against Obama because they don't trust him. He says one thing and does another while surrounding himself with radicals.
