Las Vegas Police have charged Gary Lee Hosey Jr, 23, with four felony counts of driving under the influence causing death after his Chevrolet Monte Carlo struck a group of commuters waiting for the bus shortly before 6.30am, scattering body parts across the street.

Further charges could be added during the course of the ongoing investigation, police said.

They added that Hosey had a lengthy criminal history in Las Vegas, with arrests for possession of marijuana, obstructing a public officer, lewd conduct and larceny within the past two years.

Hosey's car was travelling at an estimated 100 mph before it hit a dip in the road, went airborne and spun onto the nearby bus stop where the commuters were gathered just a minute before Bus 203 was scheduled to arrive.

The Clark County coroner's office today identified one of the dead as Johnni Lee Garner, 49, of Las Vegas. Others who died at the scene included a 65-year-old woman, a 47-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man but they have not yet been named.

Four passengers were in the car at the time of the crash and had to be cut out by emergency crews. Those in the car were identified as Las Vegas residents Akililu Atanaw, 24, Maarig Tewolde, 26, and Wendim Fisenar, 31, and San Diego resident Tamesgen Adam, 22.

Bodies of those killed - many of which were dismembered - were still laying in the road, covered in bright white sheets, late into Thursday morning.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, as rescue crews worked to free Hosey from the wrecked car, the bartender heard him say: 'Did I make it to the liquor store?'

[h=1]US Air Force sergeant orders husband to SHOOT her so she can avoid an overseas deployment[/h]

Bossier City police arrested a man on a weapons charge Friday after an investigation found that he shot his wife after she talked him into it so that she could avoid military service. The man's wife also faces a criminal charge for filing a false police report about the incident.

Police arrested Staff Sgt. Christopher Groomes, 26, on a charge of illegal use of a weapon and issued his wife, Staff Sgt. Judy Groomes, 25, a summons on a charge of criminal mischief in connection with the shooting that left her with gunshot wounds to her legs.

Judy Groomes is with the 2nd Logistics Squadron Inbound Receiving Section here, and Christopher Groomes is assigned to the 548th Combat Training Squadron. Both Airmen have been at Barksdale for nearly four years.

Police and fire department personnel were called to the couple's home in the 1100 block of Clarence Street at approximately 3:30 a.m. in reference to a shooting.

Judy Groomes initially told police that she was shot by an armed intruder who confronted her inside her home while her husband and their two small children were asleep. She reported the suspect then fled out the back door on foot. Bossier City Fire Department personnel took Judy Groomes to LSU Health Center in Shreveport for treatment of her wounds which were determined to be non-life threatening.

After questioning, detectives determined Judy Groomes had her husband shoot her so that she could avoid deployment. She was scheduled to deploy to Southwest Asia in the coming months, according to a statement from Barksdale.

The investigation found Christopher Groomes fired one round that wounded his wife in both legs. He was booked into the Bossier City Jail on the weapons charge. Judy Groomes has since been released from the hospital.

Barksdale Air Force Base released a statement early Friday afternoon saying the Air Force takes all allegations of misconduct against its Airmen seriously and that they are cooperating with local law enforcement during the investigation.
