NEW YORK — MSNBC has suspended prime-time host Keith Olbermann indefinitely without pay for contributing to the campaigns of three Democratic candidates this election season.

Olbermann acknowledged to NBC that he donated $2,400 apiece to the campaigns of Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway and Arizona Reps. Raul Grivalva and Gabrielle Giffords.

NBC News prohibits its employees from working on, or donating to, political campaigns unless a special exception is granted by the news division president — effectively a ban. Olbermann's bosses did not find out about the donations until after they were made. The website Politico first reported the donations.

"I became aware of Keith's political contributions late last night," Phil Griffin, MSNBC's chief executive, said Friday. "Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay."
 
Bravo started a thread on this already. He was suspended for not following company rules everyone already knew he was a liberal. It's being reported now several other MSNBC employees such as Scarborough, Buchannan gave money as well. Will be interesting if anything happens to them.

Edit: I should say that last part is from (ironically enough) Talking Points Memo so I am not going to vouch for the accuracy of it.

Wow that will be interesting, you can't send an email or call their lines are probably flooded! The VP's phone disconnected! The calls coming in must have them undone!

In August, he donated $5,000 to Michelepac, or Many Individual Conservatives Helping Elect Leaders Everywhere, according to the Federal Election Commission. The PAC is associated with Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann.

Fox's parent company, News Corp., gave $1 million this summer to the Republican Governor's Association, which helps elect GOP gubernatorial candidates nationally.

When Fox host Neil Cavuto donated $1,000 to President George W. Bush in 2002, Fox executive John Moody told The Washington Post, "I wish he hadn't."

See, the thing is, Sean Hannity and Neal Cavuto are not news anchors, they are pundits. There is a different standard.

your disnonesty is humorous...news corp gives to dems as well...further, look at time warner and their contributions, you won't because it shows you're a political hack for calling out newscorp and remaining silent as the parent companies of cnn et al.....

i like having you around though, you make the far left seem wackier than it is already is and you help foster more moderate and right leaning idealogues because people don't want to be anywhere near your nutty ideas

HOW does it matter if News Corp gives to Democrats and Republicans???

If Olbermann is a HACK, then so is Hannity and Neal Cavuto. Even someone with the brain of a child could understand that. So we've identified your problem.

because hack....you only whined about them giving to repubs...you of course "conveniently" neglect to mention them giving to dems as well...you tried to paint it as only repubs which is false
