One of the many things I dislike about American politics & the media

They'll likely reach a deal on the fiscal cliff tonight, and within a minute, the 1st thing every news outlet will report is who "won" and who "lost."

America wins if they reach a deal, and that's all that matters. I'm so tired of the media treating these kinds of negotiations as though they're a game.

No, within a minute they'll report Obama won regardless. But I digress and agree. It isn't a game.

America wins if they do nothing. America loses if they come up with some last minute stop gap bullshit or an extension of the current bullshit.

damo is correct, no matter the outcome, the media will gush praise for obama

Winners:

President Obama and Vice President Biden. President Obama made the fiscal cliff negotiations all about taxes, repeating the call for tax increases on the rich and tax cuts for the middle class that helped him win reelection. Although the final deal is less than the president had hoped for, he gets to say he kept his campaign promise to protect middle-class Americans. He also gets to renew key tax cuts passed as part of his 2009 stimulus package and to extend unemployment insurance. Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden can revel in the crucial role he played in last-minute discussions with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
