This op ed has to be one of the most insane I've ever read.
Ed Montini, a lockstep Leftist, writes a column about how awful it is that Trump nixed funding for lawyers for unaccompanied minors who entered the US illegally. The insanity in it reaches a climax at the end of the column with:
Daniela Hernandez Chong Cuy, who runs a private law firm in California that works with unaccompanied migrant children, spoke about a migrant toddler with whom she is familiar.
She said, “What is this 2-year-old client supposed to do without her attorney? Who will speak for her in court?
“Who will explain to her and all of our other clients, who have literally no adult in the United States to care for them, that they will now have to navigate a very complex legal system on their own?”
Think about what Cuy said there. How the fuck did a 2-year-old enter the US illegally on their own? Did they crawl across the border unaccompanied by any adult? Where are this kid's parents? Who assisted them in entering the US? Why aren't the adults involved held responsible for this?
How the hell can a lawyer represent a two-year-old effectively? The kid can't help in her own defense, while a lawyer arguing for anything other than reuniting her with her parents in the country of origin is one of utter insanity.
We shouldn't be taking a 2-year-old to court for an immigration hearing. We should be giving that kid a one-way plane ticket back to their home country where the government and the kid's parents need to take responsibility for her. She doesn't need a lawyer. She needs a plane ticket!
Yet, this is WTF the Left is arguing in favor of illegal immigrants.
